Gish 2 coming soon, Hitlers Must Die! coming sooner photo

Edmund McMillen is a non-stop productivity machine. He just finished Spewer, has Super Meat Boy in the works for WiiWare, and as it turns out, he's also almost done with Gish 2 and an action/comedy/platformer by the name of Hitlers Must Die!.

Gish is considered one of the best indie platformers of the past ten years (download the demo here and see for yourself). Not much has been heard about the Gish sequel since is was announced in late 2008, and with all of Edmund's ongoing projects, it wasn't hard to imagine that the game might be on hold. That was before this production art popped up a few days ago, and the announcement from Edmund (to me, in my inbox, after prying as much information out him as I could) that something definitive would be said about the release of Gish 2 and "what consoles it's for" in about a month or two.

Before that time, we'll likely see the PC release of No Quarter, a collection of arcade-style games from Edmund and programmer Alex Austin. The stand-out amongst this compilation is without a doubt Hitlers Must Die; a black, white and red, ultra-cute/violent story of a patch-eyed Russian operative on a mission to create a mile high pile of dead Hiltler-clones. Early video of the game shows the yet unnamed lead pulling off the signature Mario duck-slide while blowing away multiple Hitlers diagonal style. Edmund may have a preview build of the game ready for the press this week, which has me all giddy with anticipation.

What do you think? Ready to kill some cute Hitlers?

Someone should make a game where, as an American, you travel through time, accomplishing major feats of history, before thought to have been done by non-Americans.

Like Hitler's suicide. Totally an assassination, by an American, disguised as a suicide.

I mean, it only makes sense.

How have I not heard about the Gish sequel until now? God damn I'm excited. Also, Hilters must die sounds cool too.

Ah, I hope Gish is a bit more playable this time. I bought the first one, but got stuck on later levels because handling the physics was too unwieldy and frustrating with what the game wanted me to do...

joemoemino: Well you know, in the beginning there was America. But America got bored having no one to dominate so America created the heavens and the Earth. Upon the Earth America made all nations, great and France.

Then on the second day America grew lonely with just small pitiful nations to dominate so America created people to populate the nation of America. And America saw that these Americans were good. But soon the Americans grew weary of dominating uninhabited nations, no matter how small, pathetic, or French they were.

So on the third day America created the many other peoples of the world. Many brave and good people America created, though none so good as the first people of America and none so weak, cowardly, and French as those America created to live in France...
