Ghostbusters: The Video Game looks hot on the Wii photo

There are three key differences in the Wii version of Ghostbusters: The Video Game. (I’m sorry style guide.) The first is the controls. Waggle and gesture, ahoy. The second is the level design and general planning. The third, and probably most readily apparent, is the visual style. Unlike the big boy versions on the current generation systems, the Wii version has a cartoon flair. You’ve seen the screens from it, but now you can observe it in action after the break.

The trailer isn’t exactly stunning -- it essentially reveals nothing. But after viewing, you may have a greater appreciation of what Red Fly is trying to accomplish with the title graphically. If you’re a visual whore and have a Wii for whatever reason, get excited. Ghostbusters: The Video Game looks totally rad.

Especially the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Look at him. Stare into his eyes. He’s evil incarnate, yet I wouldn’t mind taking a chunk of mallow out of him and plopping it into my mouth. Surely you can’t catch evil by eating evil, right?

I'm so excited for everything Ghostbusters right now.

Yeah, because having jaggies automatically means that gameplay is going to totally suck whereas HD graphics means that the gameplay will always and forever be awesome.

Oblivion Not the Game
I like it having a visual difference rather than trying to be just like the others.

If anyone wants to play the real version of Ghostbusters its on the PS3 and 360.

I don't even want to finish the clip after seeing the first half. It looks like crap.

I wish the other versions had used this kind of stylisation. I want it both ways!

I knew Kyousuke would come in here to tell us this'd be crap eventually.

@Oblivion

Exactly what I was thinking. There are way too many games out there (for every system) that try to be exactly like others, when it's a feeble attempt from the start. Make the game specifically for the console, that's always the best way to go.

Ugh, pass the Wii version and bring me the 360 version.

I can dig it. I could see myself geeking out on the Wii version, with wiimote based proton-pack action, and waggle based trap deployment. More so than comparing The Force Unleashed between the two builds it had.

The proton pack is exactly what I was thinking. I swear, if someone makes a stupid plastic proton pack to wear while playing that game, I'm buying it.

@pedrovay re: Kyousuke
Yes, and a negative comment from Chronic Logic was the next obvious step. Oh look, there it is.

The Ghostbusters world for me works better in animation than as a movie, unlike star wars. The geekish juvenile delinquent in me is also nagging for this wii version more.

As much as I love the live-action movies, I still remember the cartoons better than anything else, so I'm in the same boat with you there when it comes to the animation style. Every time I see a picture of the PS3 version, though, I'm always pulled a bit more to that side, so we'll see how that pans out.

@cainball

I don't think Chronic Logic's comment was negative. It just sounded like he's not a fan of the Wii version's style.

wow, some of the people making comments are very lame. grow up, haters.

the game looks great. i'm glad the wii version has a different style compared to the 360/ps3 version. if the gameplay turns out good i may pick up a copy for the wii along with a 360 copy.

Can we avoid using the word "waggle"...from now on. That word triggers a response in me that makes me want to punch people in the face.

Yum. This looks surprisingly awesome. The lip sync on Egon really sold the graphics to me. No uncanny valley here!

Really like the style, hope the script works out.

It's a different style, and it works well on the Wii.

Don't apologize to the style guide. The style guide is clearly wrong, as everybody else who doesn't adhere to the style guide, including the people who are making the Ghostbusters game, still write video game as two words. AS IT SHOULD BE.
