Ghostbusters game may lead to Ghostbusters III photo

Critics, miscreants, and five-year-olds have traditionally viewed Ghostbusters as the greatest movie series outside of Robocop. While both series have fallen victim of time and rumors, a ray of hope has appeared for a Ghostbusters sequel. At a recent surprise engagement to promote his new movie, Bill Murray said that he was interested in a third Ghostbusters movie. The reason why? He had a great time recording the voice of his old character for the Ghostbusters videogame.

Here’s an excerpt of the Q&A from Ain’t It Cool News:

[Murray] also went on to say that his enthusiasm for Ghostbusters was heightened after recording the voice of Peter Venkman for the video game over the summer. In fact, he said he found himself walking down the street singing the Ghostbusters theme song and then thought people walking around him were going to start yelling at him to ‘get over yourself, Bill,’ so he stopped… But the enthusiasm was there.
I can’t say I have ever heard of this scenario. Usually it’s the movies that pump up actors for videogames. Regardless, I’m wicked excited about the possibilities and even more excited that the dialogue from the Ghostbusters videogame was spectacular enough to get Murray so excited.

As long as it's not about their kids and as long as they don't cast Shia LaBoeuf, do want!

Shia LeBeouf's a great actor, but he's becoming a bit too pompous.

Aw, Ghostbusters... What a great idea G3 would be. But you know what would be even better? A Ghostbusters Robocop movie! YES! Think about it, they team up to fight an evil corporation directed by a vile demon spirit. Robocop could step on the trapper at the end while saying "Dead or alive, you're coming with me." HAhaha...

I've heard rumors that Apatow and Ramis were going to be working on a script for the third movie, and that the original cast would return but Bill was possibly the only holdout. But hearing this now makes me very excited.

You make an excellent point, Brad. If it was just dialogue like "Blast 'im" and "I've been slimed again" or "Hello, lady-ghost" He probably would have just phoned it in. But if it's good writing with some interesting story well,

That just makes me MORE excited for the game.

Also, I've watched a few iterations of Ghostbusters 3 appear and disappearf from IMDb in pre-production. Here's hoping one sticks. :)

For some odd reason I got rehooked on Ghostbusters last month. I rewatched the movies and even started digging up scans of the comic books. It's a great concept if you think about it. You can make anything out of it: TV show, movies, games, cartoons ect. I hope the game will be good enough to at least get the feeling of the franchise, with all the comedy wrapped up in a serious shell.

I'd watch it. I think the dynamic of the ghostbusters being able to save the world, but are completely shat upon by the public/ government is fascinating, and pulls off that aspect of heroism better than most comic book movies.

This is a huge step up from, "I'll do a third movie only if they kill me off in it." If this says anything about the game, it says that it's likely as well-written as the films. Let's hope the gameplay is up to snuff, too.

As for the third movie, guys, I hate to tell you this, but it's already been decided that the film will involve new Ghostbusters, so don't expect it to be a straight, original-cast-only sequel. But seriously, have you SEEN Murray, Aykroyd, and Ramis lately? They are NOT in solo ghost-bustin' shape anymore.

When the fuck did Shia even come into this picture? There's no mention of it.

As for a 3rd film, it would have to be with a new cast or animated, none of those guys are in shape anymore, hell Raimis got REALLY fat.

Detox - MotoRobo's problem is he agrees with everyone else. Thanks for turning my first experience of a cool villain into a whiny bitch groaning about his job and his girlfriend.

Still, a bad ghostbuster sequel is better then most of the crap that's released.

Ghostbusters III? Hells yeah. I'd buy tickets right now.

Also, I agree with Sharpless. If it's going to be about future Ghostbusters rather than the good old boys, I'd recommend this as something to take notes from. Hell, even a live-action version of Extreme Ghostbusters or something similar wouldn't be all that bad. Granted, I'd prefer the originals to be the focus, but if it's gotta be new guys, I could still see it being pretty cool (and potentially starting a new series of films following the new guys).

Maybe{/url] [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQ2NOEcGF7E]something kinda like this?

I had heard on some article on IMDB that it would be original cast plus some new blood, in the form of:

Steve Carell
Seth Rogen
Paul Rudd

NOw in my book that would ROCK!

I dunno, its going to be very hard for a 3rd Ghostbusters movie to top the on screen comedic chemistry the original cast had. We'll see.
