Getting to know the New Xbox Experience: The Gamercard photo

Starting today, Gamerscoreblog will be posting a weekly feature centered around the "New Xbox Experience" a.k.a. what using your Xbox 360 will look like once the Fall Dashboard Update drops.

In this first installment, the new look of the Gamercard is examined. As you can see in the snapshot above, all of the primary features currently accessible from your Gamercard are still there, only now they're going to be easier to find.

After glancing up at the header image a second time, you'll notice a bunch of cards to the right of the Gamercard. The first card details your Gamerscore and the highest possible score you can achieve based on your game collection, while each card after that represents a game you've played.

So, anyone feel passionately about the New Xbox Experience one way or the other? I'm personally excited for the changes in organization and layout more than anything else.

Personally I think this new design is way better than the current one.
The current one seems old and crotchety. Also, maybe it is just me but doesn't the current design lag a lot, such as when you hit the guide button or flip to new blades?

The new design seems like it will flow much better... like Cover Flow...

I'm all for it. I think the current blade set up is a mess and really don't like using it. I really don't understand how they can fill up so much of the screen, but display so little.

The new look is clean, seems to work like the XMB with the axes reversed and I have yet to see images with ads in them. Good on all fronts. Fuck avatars, but I'll just not make one and that will solve that.

I like the new look, but I'm sure there will be a bunch of people angry about it because AVATARS ARE GAY RIPOFFS OF MIIS ARGH I'M ON THE INTERNET AND I NEED TO BE MAD ABOUT SOMETHING AHHHHHH.

Personally, I'm excited for video sharing and whatnot.

Looks cool I guess. Still feels slightly pointless.

As a PS3 owner, I really like the look. Nice and clean. But I don't think there's enough bloom-lighting on the Avatar >.>

I'm excited but then again I love random shit like this. I'm looking forward to the organization and flow too as well as the possibility of getting rid of that menu lag.

Unlike most of the riff raff on the Internet, I've seen it in action up close and in person, and I really dig it. I especially like that the XBox Jewel opens up the entire blade interface, so I can go straight from one XBLA game to another.

But then, it looks like most of the people commenting so far feel the same. Good for them.

Pile of utter crap. I will have to pay £60 to have my 360 fixed because these morons didn't build it right. NOW they have all this crap? Come the fuck on.

So gamerscore is now out of something? What's the fucking point in that? This is NOT what I paid A LOT of money for. I want it back.

Double post, w/e.

Achievements. You get them by doing something cool, you're not meant to work towards them. This new system will make gamers play _just_ to get achievements. Yey for more achievement whores.

Part of me doesn't give a shit, and the other part thinks it might be worth at least checking out, as formulate a real opinion on the whole thing. Love it or hate it, like every other update thrown at us thus far.... I'll learn to deal with it.

I'm quite looking forward to it as it's getting closer, but I'd still like to have the option of choosing to use the old layout if I wanted.

I really like the new dashboard layout, even if its a pretty big ripoff of the PS3 Cross Media Bar.

Neat. But can I have more than 100 friends yet? I'm getting tired of having to delete people. I also how they do something about the lag whenever I load up the Games Library.

I want to be able to opt out of this update completely. Too bad I have to put the system online to buy castle crashers. (Which I should have already done.)

I'm sure when it first comes out its going to a bug laden POS(just like the last time they switched things around), that said it looks much smoother and like it will flow better.

And yes, less menu lag please, its ridiculous that I need to wait for content on my harddrive.

Sand in vagina: remove. Xbox has always had the "[current gamerscore] out of [maximum possible gamerscore]" thing. Seriously. I see it all the time. It's just not usually so prominent. It's nothing new. It's always been there. You'll survive.

I like the new layout, but its a shame to see all the dash themes and gamerpics that we may or may not have purchased over the years go to waste.

@ those who said it was a ripoff of the PS3's interface - its actually a ripoff of windows media center, so if you see similarities, and want to accuse someone of ripping someone off, you might want to look to sony.
