To mark the release of SoulcCalibur V, Gymbox at Westfield in London are holding special swordsman workout classes throughout February. I teamed up with Namco Bandai to try out a class and it got pretty sweaty!
The classes have been designed to combine 16 different moves over a period of 45 minutes. We pretty much just did half of the class and I was already tired! Working with the instructor, the class is like a typical aerobics style workout but with drop kicks, sword slashes and turny jabby moves as well. It was honestly so much fun!
The workout will be held at Gymbox in the Shepard's Bush Westfield every Tuesdays at 6PM and it is open to both members and non-members. Also if a non-member brings along their copy of SoulCalibur V then the hefty Gymbox entrance fee will be waved and they can sign up for membership free of charge. For more details, check out the Namco Bandai website.
Damn I was waiting for one of those fake-sword swingin' fools to accidentally bash one of the others over the head during the routine. I mean, obviously it is Going to happen, but at least it should happen on camera for the rest of us to enjoy!
I was hoping that Namco would have a Kinect-only work-out mode for Soul Calibur 5 that would teach players how to air-juggle 98-350 pound human bodies using a 200+ pound broadsword or how to easily carry around extra weight in one's chest area.
That class almost looked practical were an Age of Swords to rapidly descend upon us. Practicality isn't what Soul Calibur is about!
@Faux: Its meant as a video-game themed aerobics class. They just incorporate, rather poorly, specific parts of fighting styles used by swordsmen. Practicality has nothing to do with it. Also, those swords look cheap as crap. I can make foam swords with better quality than those pieces of crap that can actually hit someone and not break for around $10 a pop.
if the class helps me learn hot to do Yoshimitsus fighting style, I'm all over it. Got Mitsurugi nailed after a few years of swinging sticks around but the helicopter spin and teleport moves are killing me!!
Useless information: the instructor for the SoulCalibur Swordsmans Workout has at one point been both Keira Knightley's and Kelly Brook's personal trainer.

Amazing video, looked fun!
Yep, this is definitely Becca.
I would probably take my physio much more seriously if I got to stab shit during it.
