Gearing up for the next month's Yakuza: Dead Souls debut, Sega has released this mini-games trailer, showcasing the many ways a Tokyo dwelling zombie slicer (or one of his three friends) spends his off time. Enjoy bowling, fishing, ping pong and other amusingly un-gangsterlike activities when this bad boy hits North American shelves March 13, 2012.
OK, wow, Majima's karaoke song and the slot machine were the only "new" (slots have been in Yakuzas 1 & 2) things I saw there. Even the pachinko machine and the woman you play table tennis with are exactly the same as Yakuza 4. And couldn't some of these locations look a little beat up due to the whole zombie apocalypse thing?
I love the Yakuza series to death, but they've been copying minigames without so much as a single visual tweak since Yakuza 2. And even then I was dumbstruck that the casino, supposedly run by the homeless now, was identical to the casino previously hidden in an opposite end of the city. I understand that they want to keep the city familiar, but that's not an excuse to put out literally the same minigames for every installment. If nothing else, I just wish they'd read my minigame progress for Yakuza 4 so I wouldn't have to do the same thing twice for a Platinum in both games.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I can't get enough Ryū ga Gotoku.
