Damnit! I already pre-ordered the Ubiworkshop edition of the game but now I think I'll have to cancel that order. This edition is just too sweet to pass up.

It still hasn't ceased to amuse me that we have a [u]Canadian[/u] studio under a [u]French[/u] company, going to such lengths to emphasize the "Americanness" of this game.
Of course they aren't taking sides. They're just wrapping themselves in the American flag while the assassin butchers the entire British Army inbetween being praised by Washington.

I've got nothing against America for the most part, but something like this kills many potential Special Edition sales in any other country.

Is the flag a nice quality you'd be fine hanging on your wall, or is it just some cheap piece of junk that would tear apart in a breeze created by a passing mosquito? I want this just for the flag, but not if it's just some cheap dollar store thing.
Apparently Ubi told Joystiq that the flag sent out in the promotional bits is not the flag we're getting in this edition. That means they'll probably give us a downsized version that will likely be a lower quality with less detail. So depending on how nice the statue is, this may not be worth it.
Also, I like that publishers still feel the need to note that Collector's Editions include a copy of the game.

The promotional flag looks like it's great quality so I'm sure the one in the CE will be paper thin and fall apart in a week
I thought they already took sides back when they said the revolution was a proxy war between templars (British) and assassins (colonists), and threw in the detail that George Washington was so successful because he had a Piece of Eden that the templars wanted (having lost the ones stolen from Joan of Arc and possibly Napoleon).
Of course, why people are getting upset over the idea that a country's government (not the people) were corrupt over 200 years ago in the dreamed up world where THE ENTIRE WORLD'S GOVERNMENT IS CORRUPTED IN THE PRESENT OF SAID WORLD is beyond me. And didn't they also pick sides when it came to the Borgias and back in Constantinople (even if they did say that the "innocent" side in that wasn't any better than the corrupt one)?
Why is this such a big thing now when the entire series has been focusing on the idea that ultimately people are responsible for their own actions (that whole "Everything is Permitted" part of the tagline) but that several large historical events were the result either the secret war erupting to the surface or the magical macgruffins the whole war is about popping up?
Anyways, all I'm hoping for in this game is for Desmond to climb on the goddamn rocket hinted at. If it's prelaunch, we'll get to do some delicious assassin work in a secret government space program (imagine one of the CoD games' big climatic scenes but with parkour and possible assassination). If it's during launch, we'll get to race against the clock to either climb the rocket, jump onto it, or fight to blow it up midair. And it it's post launch, you'll get to be ASSASSINS IN SPACE!

In my opinion, the European top tier Special Edition is far better than this. Sure, the flag is a pretty cool thing to have (and I say this as someone who doesn't particularly care for things that just screams "'MURICA!!!!!") but the fact it doesn't have the DLC is a major flaw.

I'm sorry. I think it's absolutely stupid that the PC version of the "special" edition gets all the DLC and the console versions don't? and the PC version is only $65? and all the console special edition gets is a flag.....a statue....and a belt buckle....shouldn't the price be swapped? Shouldn't the PC be 120 and the "limited" edition for the console be 65? I feel like we're getting screwed and I knew that Ubisoft would do this. Why not just put all the DLC out on the game? I'm sorry Ubisoft as excited as I am for this, unless things change with the limited edition...I won't be getting it.
