Captain Rainbow? Chad's
excellent news breaking post heralding the existence of the game and the previously displayed
pre-release trailers not enough to get you excited? Well, then feast your eyes on the little bastards from
Famicom Wars (the NES-era prequel to
Advance Wars) digging on the angular, jiggle-free boobage on
Link's Awakening's Crazy Tracy. Hot, huh? Then double click the video to be taken to the English subtitled version, because the only thing sexier than angular videogame boobs is angular video game boobs with
subtitles. It's even sexier than
Haggar porn.
Still not convinced? Then hit the jump for a second video and details on the gameplay of Captain Rainbow.
1up.com's summation/translation of Famistu's latest news on
Captain Rainbow's gives us a good taste of what the title has to offer.
As previously reported, the bulk of the game is spent helping losers fix their lives, not unlike previous Skip efforts
Chibi-Robo and
GiftPia. Basicly, you run around an island inhabited by washed up D-list Nintendo celebrities and try to help them out with their various life issues.
The new info here is that as you help these "misfit toys" of the videogame world, you are rewarded with "shinies". Twenty shinies nets you an opportunity to enter a side scrolling game sequence that sounds very "dodge or die" intensive. How much raw action these sequences will include remains to be seen, but from what we now know, Captain Rainbow could still end up being the Animal Crossing/Super Smash Bros. hybrid many hardcore Nintendo fans have been dreaming of for years
Nintendo of America would be stupid not to localize this one. With quirky, tongue-in-cheek videogame references regularly making the rounds in high profile cartoon shows like
Chowder, and the Wii popping up in countless prime time TV shows, it seems clear that videogame culture has finally gone mainstream. Since NoA seems so obsessed with pleasing the mainstream, one would think that a game that has gaming culture as it's centerpiece like
Captain Rainbow would be be localized without question. Sadly, NoA's track record for localizing even the most obviously marketable games isn't so great. Even titles with huge built in audiences like
Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland and
Mother 3 never made it to the states.
Only time will tell if Western audiences will indeed get a crack at Crazy Tracy's awesomely fake boobs. Those lucky Japanese will get their chance when the game drops in their country on August 28th.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Hey, Chowder had a Katamari episode.
*remembers seeing a trailer with Little Mac*
Little Mac?! D-List?! Bah! I am offended good sir!
In all seriousness though, I'm definitely keeping an eye out for this. It has potential.
For serious, why would you hope that this game never comes here? Do you like the idea of the rest of us to having less fun, or are you just big on keeping our country free of Wii titles that are real, full fledged videogames?
If the latter, we already have Nintendo of America to help with that, so you can relax.
But on more serious note its nice to see chesty larou is making an appearance in a wii game.
