As Jonathan Holmes has pointed out in the past, this looks like a more coked out version of Namco X Capcom. Simply put, they really aren't pulling any punches with this game. In addition to the large cast we already knew about, the trailer features classic settings like Dead Rising's Willamette Mall, showing that they aren't going in half assed.
If you watch the end of the video, you'll also catch what seems to be a limited, or collector's edition version of the game. I have never hated the term "region locked" as much as I do now.
I was going to be snarky and say "They mine as well add X Kitchen Sink to the end, too".. Then I saw what I instantly knew to be the Hülle Granz Cathedral from Δ Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground in .Hack, and I instantly wanted the game, lol. Damn it I wish they'd bring this here.
Pretty sure I saw someone whip out a kitchen sink in there somewhere. If this doesn't get localized its gonna force me to add this to my increasingly expensive import list.
Actually, I believe the "special edition" is the First Print edition; they will be in limited quantity and feature a music CD and an art book. Once the first print edition is completely sold out, you can only purchase the game (none of the extras).
I just do not understand why they region locked the freaking 3DS. You know what games I imported for my DS? The Last Window - made by Nintendo, Freshly Picked; Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland - made by Nintendo, Ouendan 1 & 2 - made by... GASP... Nintendo.
Why don't they want my money? Although, admittedly this is probably not the place to use that as an example since this game is not made by Nintendo... but still!
I plan to by a JP 3DS, just for this game (and senran kagura)
And this game isn't a coked up version of namco x capcom, it's the closest thing we'll probably have to a sequel. They just need reiji and xiaomu in there!!
At least with blu-ray players, you can just buy one that plays all regions. If they released a "premium", region-free 3DS for $50 more, I would have bought it just so I wouldn't have to get so frustrated with stuff like this.
Well... at least it's not totally a fighting game. Looks like some sort of Valkyrie Profile/Final Fantasy Tactics hybrid. The trouble is that despite it being good to see Mega Man and King Arthur back in action, I don't care much about any franchises from those companies anymore. The graphics look like something the PS1 threw up... and who can honestly say that they like still frame cutscenes?
That upcoming free-to-play Nintendo game? Let out a sigh of relief. We knew the company wouldn't tamper with Mario or Pokemon for its monetization experiment, sure, but we now know which property is going free-to-play and eve...

Funny thing about the 3DS demo stations at this year's and last year's E3: they were mobile. And I don't mean they were attached to rolling podiums. Nintendo hired a bunch of girls to walk around the floor with 3DS units fast...
