Get digital album 'Greatest Video Game Music' for cheap photo

I'm sure the title will cause some to argue and proceed to list many worthy songs that did not make the cut, but the London Philharmonic Orchestra's album The Greatest Video Game Music is a good sampling of tunes taken from more recent mainstream hits.

It's available digitally from Amazon for $1.99 when you use the code "GAMESMP3." The price is certainly right. This promo offer is valid through November 30, so there is plenty of time to dismantle your couch in search of long-lost spare change.

I think the title 'The Greatest Video Game Music' is a bit of a misnomer, but it's quite good nonetheless.

This album is definitely skewed toward games that are considered popular now, as opposed to more retro titles. Personally, I view that as a plus, just because I don't have much from modern titles in my game soundtrack collection.

However, I could do without the Angry Birds theme. I'll probably refrain from actually downloading that one. :P

As for Metroid, it sucks it's not in there, but given the skew toward modern hits, it makes sense they left it out. The series hasn't seen a hit for almost 5 years and Other:M left a bad taste in a lot of mouths. If you want some Metroid music, I highly recommend checking out the free 'Harmony of a Hunter' fan album.

After listening to a few of the tracks, this is an absolute steal for $1.99. Thanks for the heads up, and now I will be spending part of my evening listening to the full album.

Oh darn I just bought it for $2.99. I found it hilarious that the Angry Birds theme was somehow in there. It is a surprisingly good orchestral song, but I was still laughing my ass of while listening to it.

And by "Greatest Video Game Music" they mean "30 tracks from random popular games released over the last 10 years"

Angry Birds theme song?

Really?

"I can't get really good music from popular games for 3 dollars, and it doesn't contain games that I think should be on a CD with that title!"

Purchased. No regrets.

Always been a London Phil fan. You can always depend on their productions being top notch. I must admit, I like the Angry Birds theme. It even sounds like a piece Stravinsky came up with one day. That being a good thing.

Now the track list is mostly mainstream stuff, and I suppose I can understand why. For the price, it's hard to complain. Still, I'm trying to exercise restraint in online purchases and there are only about 4 or 5 tracks I'm interested in.

I think I'm giving in.

For... music created in London... seems that us Brits still have to pay full £10 for it

that being said, I saw them playing live in 2006 and then again in 2008 when Video Games Live worked with them..

Wish VGL would come back to Britain. they've not come in 2 years now, though i think the LPO are doing another videogame music show (which i only heard about a month after it had been, drat)

I can only get $1 off if I pay the foreign currency fee. IS IT WORTH IT!? Yes, when the UK only gets the CD, which is £9.23

The fact people are bitching about Angry Birds being on the soundtrack and glossing over the fact the game starts off with a track from critical flop Advent Rising kills me.

Angry Birds is the top downloaded app on the iPhone. There's no denying it has done something for the games industry.

Feels slightly odd that Advent Rising's track is on here. Was the game any good? I can barely even remember the name as anything more then "oh, I think that was released at some point"
