Get Comcast, and then get a Wii

Get Comcast, and then get a Wii photo
     wii

From today until August 17, Comcast is giving a free Wii to anyone who signs up for their Preferred Plus and Premier Triple Play packages. The partnership, according to Comcast’s press release, is “merging together the joy of a super-fun video gaming experience with the power of super-fast Internet speed.” What they fail to mention is that the joy can only be experienced after calling up your buddy, asking for his Friend code, and then buying a Bluetooth headset so you can keep talking to him on the phone while you play a game together.

In all fairness, this seems like a good deal if you’re already in the market for a new Internet provider. Our favorite Nintendo vice president of marketing, Cammie Dunaway, even has her own little quote to go along with this, as she champions the Wii’s browser capabilities and Weather Channel. Although, she neglected to mention that she broke her wrist before talking about the Wii this time around.

Hit the break for the full press release if you’re interested.

Comcast Offers Wii™ Systems To New Triple Play Customers

Comcast’s Super-Fast Internet Speeds Let Wii Players Enjoy Online Games, Entertainment and Fun

Philadelphia, PA  -  July 28, 2008

Comcast, the nation’s leading residential broadband Internet provider, and video game pioneer, Nintendo, have teamed up to offer an exclusive deal available to new Comcast Triple Play customers. From today until August 17, 2008, those who sign up for Comcast Preferred Plus or Premier Triple Play package* will receive a complimentary Wii™ system, merging together the joy of a super-fun video gaming experience with the power of super-fast Internet speed.

The partnership between Comcast and Nintendo will give new qualifying Triple Play customers a free Wii system and it will also allow them to hook up their Wii to Comcast High-Speed Internet for great online experiences:

  • Play friends over Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection in games like Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and more
  • Surf the Internet on a bigger screen by downloading the Wii Internet Channel from the Wii Shop Channel using Wii Points™
  • Visit the Wii Shop Channel to download classic Nintendo games or discover new exciting titles made for Wii

“By connecting to our high-speed Internet, it will be easy for our customers to access all the fun content and features their Wii has to offer online,” said Greg Butz, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Product Development. “The Wii offers something for everyone, so pairing the Comcast Triple Play with the Wii system provides great entertainment value for the entire family.”

“Comcast’s high-speed Internet connects Wii owners with their friends all over the world,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “In addition to playing video games, people can surf the Internet, share family photos, and check the news or weather. The Wii is home to a multitude of fun Internet based entertainment and informational options.”

Comcast Preferred Plus and Premier Triple Play packages* include: Comcast Digital Cable with On Demand and premium channels; Comcast Digital Voice®, offering unlimited local and domestic long-distance calling and 12 popular calling features plus enhanced voicemail, and; Comcast High-Speed Internet with PowerBoost®, providing some of the fastest download speeds available today.

To be eligible for a complimentary Wii system, a two-year contract is required. Customers can sign up for the Triple Play by calling 1-800-COMCAST.

*Triple Play package availability and offers vary by market. Total number of Wii systems is limited.

Still wouldn't switch to Comcast - they're a horrible company and it's just not worth the stress.

Comcast sucks, but it's like 32 bucks a month or something for me. I dunno, but it's like 20 bucks cheaper than the next cable internet, optimum. We don't get that shit in my neighborhood.

I cannot wait till Verizon FIOS gets here.

I must be one of the few people that actually like Comcast. Everytime I had a problem, they fixed it or reimbursed me for my troubles. Hell, they even gave me a discount of my service just because it was my birthday, and I didn't even ask for it. I have no problems with Comcast... well, they are a little pricy but I can live with that. My other option over here in good ol' Washington state is Qwest, and they suck balls.

As for Nintendo, I don't care for the Wii. Don't get me wrong, I know they are selling shit for top dollar, but the system is just not for me. I'm kinda tired of Mario as well... since he's now been to the galaxy... where else can they take the man!?! He's just a plumber... he's probably tired and wanna go home already.

Look at that, an over-priced, under-performing console when you agree to a long-term contract with an over-price, under-performing ISP!

Im paying 60 bucks a month for Highspeed Light -.-
Wich they just invented just as I signed up. Wich I beleive capped my speed.
Dont like em, they are a monopoly company that of wich rivals starbucks.
Though a free Wii is a free Wii.
I have one already and I have satilite TV, plus voice over IP with comcast is over priced on its own. I'd rather have vonage, though my normal landline with AT&T is fine too.
Sadly, my house is about 3 feet away from DSL availability. >.<
Still a free Wii is a free Wii. They know how to pull poeple in. Monopolizing bastards...
