The first Valkyria Chronicles, despite being a critical darling and one of the best games on the PlayStation 3 (then and now, really), wasn't exactly a commercial success. It sold a paltry 30,000 or so units in its early weeks, hampered by its low profile and relatively niche appeal. It staged a strong comeback, though, thanks in part to a well-timed price drop and - according to Sega - "all that evangelical work by hardcore fans", who got the word out that the sketchy-looking (literally) anime RPG was a game that no one should miss.
It seems that Sega have taken the lesson that communities matter to mind, and this time they're working to drum up the excitement - and evangelism - in advance of the actual release. At least, that's the impression their "Valkyria Chronicles II Community BLiTZ" event is giving me. You can check out the site for floods of information about the game over the next few days, in addition to giveaways for things like swag and DLC codes for the original Valkyria Chronicles.
So, if you feel like getting even more hyped up for Valkyria Chronicles II, head on over there. Then you can check out what we had to say about it, and then download the demo to top it off. Then, of course, buy the game when it comes out.

If you're going to half-ass a sequel to a splendid 2007 console game, they could have at least done the decent thing and waited a bit longer to put it on the 3DS and PSP2.

LOSE 500 DTOID COOL.
This game is perfect.
Seriously though, It's on PSP, it's going to look blocky and muddy. Find me a PSP game that doesn't.
You and about everyone else.
Maybe if they actually had marketed the first one instead banking on it's status as an exclusive title to create buzz, it would have actually sold enough to merit such an endeavor.
Exactly.. The game deserves better than the PSP is capable of. All the reason to wait for PSP2 or the 3DS, as they will likely both be out in less than a year, instead of pushing it out on PSP with better hardware waiting in the wings.
Has it been confirmed to have a day 1 PSN release? I just bought an 8 gig stick and would rather have it on there than a UMD.
The PSP2 hasn't even been announced, it ain't coming in a year.
Its alright. But it is different. Its not as focused on action as much as it is the love triangle the series fabricates between Welkin, Alicia, and Faldio, and the interactions between characters. Certain liberties are taken with the events, but its fairly true to the game's flow, but it does change the details around events, sometimes only as an excuse to incorporate additional characters.

Wanna bet? Mark my words, PSP2 will be on store shelves before this time next year. The only way it doesn't is if Sony tossed what was the PSPS2 in the trash when they saw the 3DS. They wouldn't give a Nintendo handheld(and whatever Apple puts out between now and then) with that kind of buzz that big of a leg up.
