Get a PSPgo for $199 using a PlayStation Card photo

Similar to last year's PlayStation Card promotion for a cheap(er) PlayStation 3, Sony is offering more savings to those who use the special credit cards to buy Sony merchandise. This time, the promo knocks $50 off of the PSPgo's price tag.

If you apply for one of these Visa cards prior to December 31, you'll receive a $50 credit when you buy a PSPgo from SonyStyle. With Christmas shopping season right around the corner, it's worth noting that buying $200 worth of goodies from PlayStation Network will net you another $50 credit for your card.

That seems like an awful lot of money for the second part of the promotion, but hey, I'm not about to judge your buying habits when I've got equally bad ones of my very own to be ashamed of.

Hey, if any of you are planning on jumping on it, do not hesitate. Sony's done this for the last three years now and here's how it works.

You apply for the card, they delay processing the card for as long as humanly possible.

Sony will not actually honor the offer unless you have the card in your hands, activated, and bought the PSP before the applicable date. They won't actually tell you everything about the offer unless you press for details. I signed up for a Sony card back in 2007 to get a PS3 and I applied for the card 3 weeks before the promo ended. The card arrived 3 days after the promo ended. Visa would not honor the promotion even though they had my account marked as me ordering the card before the deadline (by the date). That was when I learned that it had to be IN HAND AND IN USE to get the rebates.

So, get it now or skip it.

Well anyone getting a PSPGo, you might want to pick up GTA: ChinaTown Wars with it. Seeing as how it only sold 10,000 last month, it looks like not too many people have pick it up yet, so the 80,000 first month sales for the DS version doesn't look all that bad anymore.

We got one of those cards when Sony was doing the PS3 deal and it was a pretty sweet venture. It's worth having one of those cards for sure.
