Quantcast

It's been about a week since I got my hands on the demo of Batman: Arkham Asylum, and it made me more excited to fork over my money for the full game than ever. The addictive mixture of stealth and ass-kicking combat had me hooked within ten minutes. I figured Batman would need more complex defenses against Arkham's craftier villians, though, and it seems I was right, if this newest trailer has anything to say about it!

You can hit the break to check the new trailer out, which shows off weapons such as the Grapnel Gun, Line Launcher, Explosive Gel and the Batarang. In other words, you're going to feel every inch the powerhouse that Batman should be when you get your hands on them. The game finally comes out on August 25th -- only eleven more days until I can get my Dark Knight on! If I twist that phrase around in my head enough, it sounds like I'm gonna get lucky with Christian Bale. Mmm...

Pretty awesome. I'm getting the collector's/limited edition, so I was already sold. But I still laugh every time I see Bats apply the explosive gel to the wall. He's pretty vein to have to use the bat symbol when any shape would have done just as well and probably would take less time to apply, lol.

I actually didn't really care about this game at all until I played the demo. Now I have to at least rent it when it comes out :O

The game lacks some serious Shark Repellent. What if a giant shark lunges at Batman's leg and pulls him into the depths of the treacherous ocean below? He can't risk that!

This plus the FreeFlow combat must make Batman a total badass.

I played the demo. Combat wasn't nearly as sucktastic as I thought it would be. And the sneaking was deeper than I expected.

"Grapnel Gun?"

Grapple + Shrapnel = Grapnel.

Was I the only one disappointed by the demo? Struck me as frustratingly linear and not particularly challenging. Hopefully the game comes into its own after this "tutorial" section, but as it stands, the game didn't really make me feel like Batman, which I imagine should be the point.

Also, I don't really dig the everyone-in-Gotham-aside-from-the-Joker-used-to-be-a-pro-wrestler look of the character models. Seriously, look at Jim Gordon. Look at him!

I'll probably still get the game eventually because it's Batman and looks at least half-decent, but I don't think its a day one purchase for me anymore.
