Get a parking fine? Pay with your Xbox 360! photo

Eyebrows have been raised in Orange Country, Florida, after a Sheriff's Deputy allegedly took a man's Xbox 360 from him instead of issuing a ticket. The original owner was apparently pulled over for speeding when the deputy confiscated his console, and now the Sherrif's office is trying to explain itself.

"He said, 'When you got your receipt and box and we'll meet someplace, you show me your receipt and I'll give you your game.' I didn't understand them," explained  Kenyatta Hillman, who was stopped by the cop for speeding and had his car searched on suspicion of drugs. Even worse, when Hillman decided to chase this up with the police department, nobody knew what he was talking about: "They said, 'We don't know what is going on. It was no arrest, no police file, no case. We can't find it."

Hillman eventually found supervisor Sgt. Hosey. Hillman, who confirmed the system was in his possession and that he will give it back on Friday, tomorrow. It seems they were concerned that it was stolen, and I am sure that his being black had nothing to do with it.

Instead, we can only assume that Orange County cops were simply desperate to see how awesome avatars are on NXE. This would also explain why they are giving the Xbox back.

@brainderailment:

Right, like that will stop them. The cop already knew the rights.

I could also insert some generic America bashing comment here, but I'll refrain.

People learning their rights has nothing to do with the pressure and anxiety that comes with dealing with an overbearing cop. And when you take into consideration the subtle hints at racism on the cop's behalf, you'd more or likely want to co-operate, and would be willing to do anything.

Absolutely ridiculous that this shit goes on...we've got a long way to go.

Cops violating laws!? Not surprised at all. Don't piss off any cops when you get to the US. Some look for a fight.
