Gerard Way co-produced ending theme to Final Fantasy: Advent Children Complete photo

[As originally posted on Japanator]

This is going to get some flak from you guys, I'm sure.

Gerard Way, the frontman for the band My Chemical Romance, is co-producing Kyosuke Himuro's song that will be the ending theme for the Final Fantasy: Advent Children Comlpete. Way wrote and composed the song, and sings some vocals, although Himuro is the main singer. The song, "Safe and Sound," will be replacing "Calling," the original 2005 ending song in Advent Children.

You can check out the song over on Himuro's website and let us know what you think. Personally, I like the bit that's previewed, but then again I'm a fan of My Chemical Romance -- and now I've probably just stopped 100 of you from ever reading my articles again. But for those of you who remained and want to rage about it, Way is already a pretty big geek, what with his Eisner award winning comic The Umbrella Academy -- it's a delightfully enjoyable read.

Well, let's hear your thoughts on all this in the comments.

I'm more bothered by the fact that Square feels they need a pop/rock star to sing a song for so many of their works. I didn't mind them at first but now they just seem shoehorned into the games and rather out of place.

I fear what song they'll include in FFXIII...

I will let you know that I disagree with your taste in music, but to each his own. Also, I am reminded that I need this on Blu-ray...

I never liked the movie in the first place, even being a big fan of FFVII. I say, let it go.

It's the ending song, so I don't think it's worth getting upset over.

Batman Forever had Kiss from a Rose for fucks sake! How many people knew that?

What's wrong with Chemical Romance making a song for the Advent Children movie? Personally I'm not a chemo fan. Perhaps it's the fact that it's not a japanese band making a song for a japanese movie that's making people angry.

And here I was, thinking that Advent Children could not be a worse movie that it already was!

So mistaken :(

Kiss from a Rose is an awesome song and Seal made lupus scars sexy after that unfortunate incident with Flannery O'Connor gave the disease a bad name. As for My Chemical Romance, I gave them a shot after reading Umbrella Academy and being very impressed but I can't get into the music. I think if I were younger it would appeal to me but it just doesn't do anything for me now. As for the song, it was fine? Didn't really do much for me either way but then again I felt the same way about Advent Children. Glad Gerard Way is throwing a few different irons in the fire as I think he's got a talent for writing and would like to see him try his hand at some different things.

It's not so much the fact he's doing the ending music that bothers me.

The fact that Square found it necessary to rerelease this, however... >_>;

Hey as long as the mind-boggling CG/real-life credit roll Cloud-on-his-bike scene is still intact, I don't care who's singing. Also, I've only seen FF:AC twice and if this complete edition will be out on DVD, I may think about picking it up, I don't own a copy of it. Sure the movie's not that great, but I found it enjoyable.

I'd just be worried based on that shitty Christian emo band that had a hand in making songs for Dissidia that were fucking awful...
