Folks excited about tonight's Gears of War-related announcement at the Spike Video Game Awards, stand down. According to Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb, the big reveal related to Epic Games' massive franchise has been postponed.
"While these are never easy decisions," he writes, "we can tell you that what we have to share for the franchise in 2011 will definitely be worth the wait and we look forward to working with our partner at Spike on sharing this world premiere news when it is ready."
Epic's Cliff Bleszinski had previously teased the reveal saying it's "not what you're expecting." Rumors had pointed to either Kinect functionality for the previously announced Gears of War 3, or an entirely new Kinect title in the series.
My money was on a kid-friendly Gears game, if you must know.
