Gears of War: The first hour

2:25 AM on 11.07.2006

GearsWar.jpg So, I'm about an hour or two into the game. I chose to go the hardcore route, or whatever the middle level is called, instead of the wussy beginner level. I'm way to uber for such nonsense. Well, they aren't kidding when they say hardcore. I've died over and over again. This is definitely not a game where you rush through with guns a blazing. There's a lot of awesome strategy involved which I love. So far, the game is very cinematic and the sound is incredible. I'm sure my neighbors are hating me right about now, but I don't care, I'm playing Gears of War. Let me tell you, if you were at all on the fence about buying this game, then get off the god damned fence and buy this game. It's easily the best game on the 360 right now. I can't wait to try out some online co-op and get my curb stomp on later in multiplayer. So, first impressions overview: It's f'ing hard and it's f'ing intense and I love every minute of it.

Boy, The Hong Kong Massacre sure looks like Hotline Miami

Hotline Miami by way of Stranglehold or any other John Woo flick, at least. Which is appropriate for the setting. Though I'm also reminded of Michael Mann's Miami Vice movie for some reason. I guess it can't exactly be Hotli...more
