I'm gonna get this for jimmyx 13th birthday! It'll make the little guy so happy.

I work for a distribution company and I was fortunate enough to be able to go the Fantasy Flight and play the game about 6 weeks ago. It is a co-op game where you play through one of several scenarios that are given and scale with the number of players(you could make your own as well). It is really well done, the minis are really detailed and some of the bigger minis are really pretty in particular. The locust are controlled by the board so no one has to be the bad guys. It is very thematic with the video game, the weapons are there, you throw grenades to close sink holes where locust are spawning, you take cover and get modified rolls from it,etc etc.

We all really enjoyed it, can't wait to see if they are selling it at GenCon. This is one of those games I will pay full MSRP on to get in my hands now instead of waiting and getting it at my work discount. Highly recommend for the board gamer or the video gamer looking to dabble.

It's from the same designer as the Battlestar Galactica board game, which is one of my favorite board games of all time. The GoW game seems to borrow elements from Descent, which is a great tactical dungeon crawl game, and the recent Mansions of Madness, which is an excellent story-based board game. Might go onto my buy list for board games this year.

A Gears of War fan has got to have a back-up plan for power outages, whenever the Internet is down in their area(or so slow that it might as well be) or the event of their banning from XBox Live,right?

Is it in 1080p? Those graphics almost look real and almost appear to be in 3-D,no less. No doubt it has online multiplayer. Everything has online multiplayer these days. Those Live fees have to be justified somehow.

While it is true that one can trash-talk and grief other players in person, it lacks the charm of yelling over a headset at the top of one's lungs. Plus, it isn't safe for the person doing the griefing.

On the upside,Rage-Quitting will be a far more visceral upending of the board and flinging of figurines rather than disconnecting one's procession of online deaths from their lifeline.

I wish I got into more advanced board games like Warhammer, D&D, and Frag.

Maybe this will be my gateway game.

ugh beer and boardgames never work at my house. all my friends seem more interested in constantly taking sips than paying any attention to the game. and once they hit that "starting to get drunk" phase, the game is essentially over. stupid alcoholics.

I have never played gears of war and I have little to no interest in the series, yet I want this, badly. If only it came out this month, next month is already expensive between my video game interests and yugioh interests

It's put out by Fantasy Flight. They've done this before to: Doom, Starcraft, Civilization, Warcraft, and World of Warcraft (twice), as well as books and TV shows like Battlestar Galactica, Game of Thrones (my personal favorite), Conan, Beowulf, Dracula, even Lord of the Rings (!).

And they make good games. Expensive, but good.

While I'm quite partial to the game life, and the occasional sweet valley high(I was the only boy with 3 sisters) I might have to give this a try.

I have to say. Playing Board games is extremely fun. Depending on the game of course. Specially with a Beer at hand.

Oh, and I just noticed that it can be played solo, too.

This bodes well for me, who had to move a good three hours away from all of his friends for a job.

this would only be good if gears was released on the best system in the history and future of man, the PS3, but since it is a 360 exclusive, I will hate it for no reason. Uncharted 3 will blow Gears of War out of the water. 360 is poop.
