Gears of War multiplayer patch coming tomorrow photo

Way to sweeten the deal, Epic! On top of the two free Gears of War maps that will be available 1/10/07, a much needed multiplayer patch will be released on 1/09/07. The official list of fixed issues from Mark Rein himself:

• Fixed aspect ratio distortion when using VGA cable with 4:3 displays at resolutions higher than 640x480
• Fixed voice issue with new players joining Player Match games in progress
• Players can now get the Achievement for "Dish Best Served Cold" when using Troika turret to kill RAAM
• Fixed rare situation where host could loop countdown and never start match
• Fixed rare situation where players could get stuck after chainsawing in multiplayer
• Reduced Grenade Tag melee distance
• Enabled “Strict” NAT check on host to prevent possible connection issues
• Optimized server browser queries to return results more quickly and prevent scroll bars from hiding quality of service icons
• Reduced number of possible revives in Execution to match Warzone
• Removed host name from Ranked match server browser
• Disabled security cameras in Ranked matches
• Ranked matches now require balanced teams (3v3 or 4v4)
• Increased penalty for quitting a Ranked match to -50 points
• Added additional cheat detection code
• Additional housekeeping updates

Since host names will no longer be visible in ranked matches, hopefully there will be a decrease in one-sided games. In any case, the amount of grenade tag kills will surely go down once this patch is released.

[Thanks, Snaileb]

Cool, I's got's prop's. Yeah Voice Chat deal was there was 8 mic slots, and if you came and filled up the slots, they wouldnt be avalible for anyone else when you left.

Also... they should've allowed friends to play ranked, instead of the vise versa. I mean I know they want to cut back on cheating, but, don't you think it's better to play with friends then some dumbass shit guzzling newb to come and get himself killed while he's looking for a weapon or getting his achievements???

yeah, the update sounds great. Two new maps look fucking insane. they just need to add team play for the ranked matches. If they could get some sort of clan system it would be sweet. Cus now there is no way of have real tactics in ranked matches.

It definitely gets annoying when people in ranked matches don't understand the core gameplay of Gears -- teamwork. Although it is funny when someone tries to take on the opposing team alone.

Ditto on the team play in Ranked. I know people who went back to Halo 2 just because of how frustrating the ranked is in Gears.

I don't really care about ranked matches. I'd much rather get 7 other friends and just fuck around in a private match.

My main gripe with Ranked is that my kills get stolen by achievement hungry retards. Thats why I only played it for the first day or two until i realized that unranked is where the big boys play.

No host names in ranked is gonna be very bad for me, I play ranked games with with my friends a lot, just because we make a good team.
On my own, I never do half as good.

So it is in any case, Faraday. I think more than half the GOW community (1.4 mil is half right?) would agree..

..also, is it bad when you own avatar gets you off?

I'm not pissed about ranked matches' host name removal. Finally I can play alone and not feel anally raped when it's over... every single time. If you want to play with friends, do player matches. I only wish there was squad support.

I don't know. I have alot of random crap on my work computer. If you look at the comment monitizor, you can see her whole body, not just jiggly boobies. But damn... work is lonely. I need my secretary to come back.

I've seen your avatar around before, Snaileb. It's a popular gif around the interwebs. And there's many variations with different skin tones, clothing colors and even some with no clothes.

Snaileb, your avatar is a character from a Tetris-style puzzle game called "Magical Drop". Your specific character I believe is called "World" (they're named after Tarot cards). I've seen lots of modifications the original animated GIFs, your character is actually supposed to have three eyes and clothed only by a length of cloth. Where exactly did you find this "VW" version?

Awesome. The amount of times I join a slow ass server, although they're not that bad for american hosts. And how many times I select a server then get instantly disconected and have to sit there waiting for a refresh. Happens even more in Ranked for some reason.

Grendade patch seems pretty cool too, lot of people complained at me for tagging them just as they killed me. I think it's a pretty good move if you're about to die to switch and tag, its like instant payback lol.
