It'd be nice if they were included in the Season Pass. But one thing that makes me mad is that these skins were unlockable in the beta, but now we have to buy them...
Hmmm, not for $45 thank you. Maybe if you could get them all for $20, it would be more reasonable. Hopefully some of the DLC Map Packs will come with some skins or characters when they release.
White Knight II lost my sale when I saw they were selling color shade palletes to customize the Invictus along with $10 tickets to re-design your character. I guess that's different though... since that game promotes customization and creating your own unique look. Not really mad, I just wasn't excited enough for the game to begin with to warrant spending extra money so I could slightly adjust my shade of orange. Silly skins in GOW though... whatever.
Well put by Jim (for a change ^^). It this makes anyone mad, either pony up or just put extra effort to bring those show-offs down online. HAVE to buy? More REASONABLE? Sheesh... It's good old wallet speak. If this is any kind of a problem then simply have a stern talk with your wallet as it's clearly trying to take control.
Problem is, this sort of stuff used to be rewards for playing a game. Now they're just trying to milk every last penny they can out of a title. It's the principle of the thing that disgusts gamers.
I thought they were letting you unlock these with multiplayer progression? Can anyone confirm that they aren't still doing that?
I might be annoyed if there were gameplay implications, but weapon skins are completely transparent to both single player and multiplayer mechanics.
@darkwonders: Not exactly a problem at all. Sure, it used to be rewards for playing a game but ever since DLC got introduced several years ago, it turned into a commodity and by now, it's an established market.

I'm pretty sure you can unlock a fair amount of these by playing the game itself, and even if not, who gives a fuck?

I could have actually agreed with you antil you made it about some silly console fight. This kind of thing is always stupid, imo, but definitely not detrimental to the game. As long as they aren't cutting out maps and weapons so they can sell them later, I'm cool with it.

There is no reason to get angry here. As has already been mentioned, Gears 3 is already packed with content. These guns do not aid players who purchase them in any functional way, and noone is forced to buy them. I'd rather have the option to purchase these guns (if I were so inclined to wield a rainbow lancer!) than not have the option! Keep in mind these guys are not some charity- they are a business. The guns are available as DLC to make money, the purpose of nearly any business. Just be glad the guns don't give a gameplay advantage to people who purchase them.

I can't tell which is worse: the person who buys weapon skins on day one, or the person getting angry about them.
It's a damn shame that people are actually going to buy these and the character skins. Why not just fight the man and not buy this stupid excuse for DLC?

Ive never bought anything from Live, But a couple of the animated skins look alright, So i may get some, But ill wait for a price drop. If it ever happens.
I see no problem with Epic capitalising on idiots who would pay for this stupid shit so long as it isn't to the detriment of everyone else. It's when you have games like Farcry 2 selling actual in-game weapons as DLC that pisses me off.

The question I always have to ask when it comes to DLC is, "Does it impact gameplay?" It's a tricky question; sometimes cosmetics can mean a lot in a game, more than they probably should. Sometimes, in more substantive instances, lacking DLC leaves one almost entirely out of the loop and incapable of really being able to continue to play the game in question. But when that isn't the case, when the DLC in question doesn't have an impact on the gameplay at all (aside from the desire to appease personal aesthetic tastes, or being of a mind to compulsively gather every bit of content for a given game), I just can't find it in myself to be upset.
They're colors. What's more, they're a "feature" that wasn't even a part of previous Gears games, and I certainly didn't miss it there. I never caught myself saying, between the revving of chainsaw and the inevitable ripping of flesh, "You know what this game needs? Spraypaint. That's the lynch pin that's gonna hold this whole godawful mess together. God help this series if it doesn't get its shit together."

I don't see the problem. It's a weapon skin.
It affects nothing, at all, and you have literally no reason to buy it, and very few people will probably buy it anyway. It's a way for them to make a few extra bucks off of fanboys, a practice that has been around in one form or another for several console generations.
It's like complaining about the cost of popcorn at the movie theater. It's overpriced, tasteless and makes the movie theatre tons of money. If you don't like it, don't buy it. It won't make the movie any more or less enjoyable.
