I don't care for Gear of war, I don't hold it against anyone who does, but this pleases me in that it'll get fewer annoying people playing the multi player games I enjoy playing. (not that all gears fans are annoying)

The ip took off after the first gears of war, that game was in the top
most played games on xbo live for 2 year solid (unlike gears 2 that dropped from the list after 1 year due to shitty matchmaking, poor netcode and glitchers).
Hopefully epic listened to their fans and sort the multiplayer out.

I'll get Gears 3 at midnight launch for sure. But seriously what is it with Epic and tentacles. First in UT 3 with Necris now this... I think it has something to do with their studio in Japan they opened up....or just sheer coincidence.
A year away is too long, also i wish i had some earphones at the moment i'll just wait til i get home to watch it. There better be an awesome final boss in this one maybe with some tentacles.
I'm assuming that's Marcus's dad, Adam, and that he'll be the primary plot device driver along with his death mid-end way through the game.

I've never really been into Gears of War -- lack of an X-Box 360 has a good bit to do with that, amongst other things -- but I can't fault Epic's ad campaign. The ad people do some really cool mood setting with the music they choose. It's been effective enough that more than a few other companies have followed suite over the years.

Nice to see female soldiers in a Gears of War game.
I only played Gears of War 2 very briefly one time. Since I'm buying a 360 this year, I'll probably start with this series.

Loved the beard and the music, but meh overall. I had fun playing the first 2, but I don't need another Gears. To me it feels like one lengthy game, wgen Gears 2 came out I thought it was bigger, of course, but it was also the same fucking game with a different story and more epic scenes.
There is nothing in Gears that excites me. And what alwayes cracked me up - it's how Gears controls. Fucking ludicrous. They can only run, roll and get into cover.
And it's so unresposive that while I'm playing a human character, it feels more like driving a tank.

used table: in fairness to you, I never played the multiplayer, never liked it. but the single player was AMAZING, and I dont care how bad MP sucked, nothing changes that fact.
AdamantiumHip: Single Player and Horde are amazing. The multiplayer is the biggest piece of shit I've ever played. So I can understand why you like it never having played the MP. But to those of us who looked forward to this game after years of "Gears and Beers" nights this game was a huge letdown in the MP area. And not that it really matters, but it's "used ta be", though "used table" does have a comedic ring to it. :)
I can't get over the character designs of these space marines. They look like adult sized versions of the McDonalds kid

fair enough table...its just not garbage. the multplayer may suck but it doesnt make the overall package garbage.
I'm a bit mixed on this. I loved the first two. Gears 1 gave me hours of multiplayer fun. Gears 2 brought Horde mode (which made up for the terrible multiplayer). Gears 3 better bring something fucking amazing to get me excited. An example would be if one of the Carmine brothers showed up...and didn't die this time (yes I use B. Carmine in MP and Horde).
When I read the trailer's name I assumed they used David Bowie's "Ashes to Ashes" for the soundtrack. Bummer.
Though I've got a lot of time for Usedtabe, and have enjoyed some great games of Gears 1 with him, I wholeheartedly disagree with his opinion of Gears 2. And even taking the well known problems into account, anybody dumb enough to proclaim the Gears of War franchise as overrated, or garbage, obviously likes their games easy, and innoffensive.
And people STILL banging on about the terrible multiplayer are so wrong. They've fixed the majority of issues. Only thing that brings the game down is the host advantage thing which brought the first gears down, which in most matches, is not that big of a deal.

In no other 3rd person shooter (except for the mimicking of Gears movement: Uncharted) do you have such precise shooting mechanics. And you can't just win every battle by strafing with a static crosshair like pretty much EVERY other 3rd person shooter.

@TheToiletDuck; Agreed on that. But I've always put it down to Epic's art style, because their recent games do seem a little "chunky".
But damn it. I'm now seriously considering getting a THUH-REE SIXTAY for this and GoW2 (I've played/completed GoW1), as well as things like Fable 2.
