Feast your eyes on the above trailer for Gears of War 2, preparing us for the return of gaming's favorite steroid junkie and his racially diverse chums. Yes, Epic's wildly popular shooter is almost here, and I can't wait.

I am a big fan of the first Gears of War, so I'm more than ready to receive a second dose. Strangely, I'm one of the ... one people who liked the original game's single player mode better than its multiplayer, so I'm glad that Epic is committed to making it as robust and interesting as they can.

That said, I'll be more than happy to get chainsawed to death by some of you guys. If you're picking this up, let Destructoid know. We want to shoot at you.

I'm with you in that I preferred the single player campaign over the multiplayer in Gears. The single player played like they said it would. Get behind cover, outflank your enemy, et cetera. The multiplayer is more like run around with the shotgun or chainsaw, get all pissy when somebody "steals your kill," and act like an asshole.

I to preferred the single player but Horde mode looks bloody good!

I had a go on the standard multiplayer at the Eurogamer expo today and yeah if you told me it was Gears of War 1 then I would have believed you. It was still great fun though!

Gears 1 was the first time I really got deep into multiplayer for a game, but I'd be happy to find out the single player/co-op would be more entertaining since I've never been that enthused about a co-op mode and I'd love to see what it's all about.

That said, multiplayer chainsaw lambada is go.

Was I not supposed to laugh at that part?

The only multiplayer games I've enjoyed is COD4, Lost Planet, And whatever you want to call it on Fable 2. And the first Gears was one of the biggest reason for me wanting to own a 360.

I wrote up a longish comment about how Cole Train isn't a stereotype, but then I thought -- oh, fuck it.

I'll be getting this one at midnight, and probably playing all throughout the day of release.

Uh, you're not alone, Jim. I thought the single player was far better than the multiplayer.

Gears of War was too buggy and broken to work well in multiplayer.

i actually enjoyed the single player of GoW too.. co-op was cool too... the online.. eh..

i usually can't get into multiplayer online games... i used to really love playing (quake 2), but now.. i dunno, online multiplayer would be a lot more fun if it wasn't for the fucking people playing it.

Piling on the single player > multiplayer bandwagon. It's one of the few games I've bothered to play through the single player on the hardest difficulty in its entirety. The other recent one was CoD4 (damn you mile high club...).

Well anyway...

I liked single player better because the cover actually mattered. That being said, I look forward to the improved multiplayer.

Gears to me is a game that I normally wouldn't care too much about, especially since it's coming out right after Fable 2, Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, ect... But since all of my friends are gonna get Gears I will too, because I have more fun playing anything with my friends than playing something by myself.

There's only so much you can do with the single player, before it's over and forgotten. You need the multiplayer and thankfully Gears 2 delivers and then some!

I liked the Single player more than the Live multiplayer myself. But mostly because I ran through it in co-op with my friends soooo many times. So, does that count as me liking it for the multiplayer?

Does anyone else feel like, well, so much of this game has been shown that it might take away from the full experince?

I preferred the single player game as opposed the multiplayer game in the first as well. Then again, I'm one of those mythical antisocial mole-people who doesn't like multiplayer games. I enjoy co-op campaigns, but no death match for me thanx.
