Word on the street is that Gears of War 2 is going to get yet another piece of downloadable content on top of next week's Snowblind map pack. A user over on the game's official forums stumbled across the above Asian Xbox LIVE Marketplace product page, but the forum post has since been deleted.
Dark Corners, according to the image above, appears to be the next DLC for Gears 2. While I don't think it's impossible that this could be another map pack, I do think it's unlikely. In fact, I'm much more inclined to believe Dark Corners could very well be an addition to the Gears 2 single-player component.
This is all unconfirmed, of course, but with GDC 09 currently going on, it wouldn't be unheard of to expect an update on the situation soon.

I agree that more multiplayer maps seem a bit like overkill at this point. But I have a feeling they wouldn't add anything to the campaign.
Damn, Halo 3 is just barely about to release its 3rd map pack in almost two years, while Gears 2 is about to do it in less than half a year.
What does that tell us about each game?
That Epic budgeted to churn out paid content beforehand?

Or possibly the online population is declining... probaly the latter.
