Gears of War 2 Flashback map pack available for paid download photo

It seems as though Epic was kidding when they said the Flashback multiplayer map pack would only be available for those who bought Gears of War 2 new. The set has just become available on Xbox Live for 400 Microsoft Points. That’s 80 points a map.

It’s a low price for five maps. It is especially a good deal for those who may have bought the title used from a place like GameStop. Not only did they get the game on the cheap, they also get access to cheap DLC. Our unscientific figures indicate that buying a used copy and this map pack saves a person a total of five dollars

The description on the download makes it plain that future owners of new copies will still get the content for free. We haven’t received word if the golden Hammerburst or Lancer are to follow this as paid content, but chances are Epic isn’t going to run away from cash getting thrown at them. Even if they did kind of promise this stuff was exclusive.

Fan-fucking-tastic screen grab. I haven't played that game in well over a decade. Somebody out there in the Interwebs created a Homebrew port of Flashback for Nintendo DS. Not that I would ever condone such activities.

Oh yeah, so people have more Gears 2 maps to not play with online?

"Not only did they get the game on the cheap, they also get access to cheap DLC."

On the cheap? It's a new game. It probably cost them $55 used and on top of that they're paying $5. So they're really paying %60 for a used game.

GameStop 1, consumer 0.

It's a good deal, but who has really decided to save all of $5 by buying used at this point in time? I can't imagine used prices are that much lower. Still, this is a good option for avoiding dividing up their playerbase in the future - if they can get online to work.

Still, I don't see them offering the Golden Hammerburst or Lancer as DLC at all. They produced plenty of Limited Edition copies, so it's very possible to get the Lancer if you want it, and the Hammerburst will probably continue to be a promotional item, since I've seen people from Epic give them away via methods like Twitter. Maybe it will become a bonus at tournaments.

I would kill for an HD remake of Flashback... name a target, and I'll make sure it happens.

When I bought gears it had a free flashback map pack code. Does this still work?

@jrwolv:

It should, as long as it hasn't been used before.

Oh how I loved Flashback. Prince of Persia gameplay + scifi setting + gun (instead of sword) = epic game

You nearly had me there.

I thought you had one of the few reasons I'd plonk down for a 360.

Flashback can be had on Wii Homebrew (provided you have the PC game), for those who don't already know :|
