In a Joystiq interview, where he talked less horror and more Gears, Cliff Bleszinski revealed that “multiplayer map-focused” downloadable content will hit Xbox Live Marketplace shortly after the release of Gears of War 2 in November. Bleszinski didn’t add how much it would cost or if "shortly" implies hours, days or weeks. For the majority of Gears of War multiplayer freaks like me, it’s never too early to start talking map packs or game modes, especially after witnessing how bone-dry the first Gears was after release.
On the other hand, there’s still a part of me that doesn’t like immediate DLC. I love the rewards of having extra content, but I hate how quickly it can segment the community. There are always people that won’t buy new content, and thus will not be allowed to pick from the same options online. That means less people to kill and less embarrassing chainsaw deaths within the first week of release.
Of course, I could just throw caution to the wind like Bleszinski does in the completely separate interview above. Why worry about the ramifications of new DLC accompanying the release of games when you can talk about horror movies instead?
