As was announced last night, the Gears of War 2 Combustible Map Pack is now available on Xbox Live for 800 MS Points. To celebrate, here are some screens and a video (after the jump) for you to look at with your eyes.
Looks hot, but I'm not sure if I'll be downloading this until I know for a fact that Gears 2's matchmaking problems are going to be fixed properly. Post-title update, my experiences in the game lobby have only gotten worse -- a fact made even more annoying now that griefers have started hosting matches simply to quit them as soon as they've started -- exploiting both the lack of host migration and the knowledge that it can take over fifteen minutes to get a game started.
Until I can play Gears of War 2 without bullsh*t like that happening, I think I'll keep my 800 Points to myself.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Cause I have had a very good time finding matches since that update last month. Usually find a match within one minute or less, sometimes as quick as 20 seconds or so.
I am of course joking about the british part, as it seems that many people still are having problems. I dunno why to be honest, so I hope they fix your problems soon.
As for me, I'll be playing 3 or 4 matches while you wait in the lobby.
Seriously though, sucks to hear that Jim. It's a lot of fun online.
Based on how long it seems to take Bungie and other companies to release new maps (at least a few months), it seems to me that Epic had to be working on these maps during the development of the game and decided to not put them in the game. Regardless of the rationale for excluding the maps, I have a problem paying for content that honestly should have been in the game in the first place.
doubt I'll be purchasing the map pack either. Icarus made a damn fine point. it's been what a month since release? they have been finished light years ahead of the drop date thats for sure.
Not really. I defended the game over its balancing of shotguns. I also gave it a 9.0 review score because, at the time of writing, I had no problems. Only recently have things been basically unplayable for me. I wouldn't say that's foolishness.
regardless it's definitely a good idea to wait until you masturbate with a Lancer. I'm sure in a month you'll see a price drop or something.

I find it hard to believe they made 3 new maps in a month, they obviously were told to keep them out of the finished game.
Look at Halo 3, the first map pack for that game came out 3 months after the game was released. That makes more sense.
Besides, Epic made the additional maps in the original Gears free after a while, I'm sure the same will happen with these.
Not that 10 bucks is the end of the world, but I can't support this nickel and diming crap, especially when there are problems in MP that need to be fixed.
ghey
This game was leaked a month before the street date, and who knows how long it was ready to ship before it did. I have a good friend who played a beta with some developers I won't mention a year ago.
While it might seem sketchy to release 3 maps so soon after release, 15 maps already is pretty insane for launch, and i bet if they released the flashback and combustible packs together no one would be complaining.
....then again who wants new maps for a game that doesn't WORK!?
