I’m a big fan of the chainsaw, so when Gears of War was initially announced I collapsed on the floor and nearly died out of excitement. A gun with a chainsaw attachment is a brilliant thing, and I don’t think I will be any less inclined to love it the second time around with Gears of War 2. Recently, we got some information that pertains to the GoW 2’s limited collector’s edition pack. Gold-plated Lancer and bonus DVDS are now confirmed! Take a look below and see what is offered in all of its glory.
"Beneath the Surface: An Inside Look at Gears of War 2," a 48-page hardbound book including character profiles, exclusive concept art, and foreword by Design Director Cliff Bleszinski
Bonus DVD including exclusive making-of-the-game video footage, design galleries with audio commentary by Epic Games, and promotional videos including the E3 2008 trailer, "Rendezvous"
Dominic and Maria Keepsake Photo
SteelBook™ DVD case (holds all of this stuff in it)
Exclusive Xbox LIVE code to unlock a gold-plated Lancer Assault Rifle for online play
Although I’m a bit disappointed that the gold gun seems to be a run at what Army of Two offered, I’m equally excited about using it to mow down people on Live. The DVD seems very run-of-the-mill, but the photo is a cute little item. I wonder if Dominic and Maria will ever be able to live out their love-struck dreams in a Locust infested world? By the way, all this stuff can be yours for the low, low price of 70 bucks.
At least they're not doing the whole $80 thing everyone else is doing. And I'm not going to lie, chainsawing someone with a gold plated lancer does seem pretty fucking awesome.
The Fallout 3 Survival Edition has put every other limited edition to shame, this needs a Marcus Fenix bobblehead and Lancer alarm clock before I'll be impressed
Wow, that's a damn good deal for a special edition crammed with so much stuff. I'm a sucker for art books, so even though I have yet to play through two levels of the first GoW, I will probably get this. And like Kryptinite, I'm kind of a whore for "special editions."
That sounds like a decent deal, a 48 page book and all the other stuff for only 10 bucks more. Sometimes you don't get shit, really. Just a second disc of filler.
I stopped buying collector edition games when they started to get insane packaging that sticks out like a sore thumb in the game collection, and made game switching more annoying and complicated.
The extra $10 is totally worth it. There's nothing better than playing through the Co-Op campaign with a buddy all in one day. After missing out on the awesome bundle for Bioshock, I vowed never to skimp on the gaming greatness ever again.
someone should make a fakeumentary or some feaux safety video explaining the concerns and needs for proper gun use and handling in regards to the GunSaw8000. And then have this video go horribly awry. metacarpals and phalanges strewn about...and some dumbass going, "...sorry?"...or, "oops...my bad, that's all me." And then have some duck clamoring about aflac or some shit.
I would think the gold lancer will stick out like a sore thumb in MP matches. The only reason I got the CE of the original is because they were all sold out of the regular edition and I had to have it that day or my head would have exploded.
I just hope they make sure the discs stay attached to the spindles this time. GoW1 SE wasn't as bad as Halo 3, but it had plenty of room for improvement in the packaging.
