Gears 2 XP bonus weekend kicks off today photo

A fair bit of the latest Achievements added to Gears of War 2 are tied to the multiplayer ranking system. If you’re an Achievement whore that lacks patience or mad chainsaw skills, this can be a bit of a bummer. But, then again, every holiday weekend seems to usher in a Gears 2 multiplayer XP event.

Well, what do you know? Epic Games is throwing a Labor Day event. Starting this morning and stretching through September 8th, everyone can earn double XP in multiplayer. In addition to this, winning teams in competitive public matches are being awarded with an extra 500 points.

Also, Horde has been moved up to “Hardcore” difficulty, with “every tenth wave populated entirely by Sires.”

Sounds thrilling and it’s totally happening right now! Go go go.

People still play this broken-ass MP?

Hell yeah, im level 47 right now. I'm so close to that rank 50 achievement I can taste it.

And also, it does not take skill to use the chainsaw. Holding the B button is all it takes.

You mean that XP-based ranking system that they shoehorned in at the last moment to keep people playing this garbage? No thanks. As much of a XP whore as I am, even I won't play this broken multiplayer for it.

The sires on lv 10 hordes sounds pretty hilarious. Chainsaw mayhem to say the very least. I may play a few rounds.

At the hardcore skill level, just getting to level 10 with the punks I usually end up being matched with will be a downright miracle.
