Earlier today we mentioned a Rumortoid suggesting that Gearbox (Brothers in Arms, Aliens: Colonial Marines) might be working on a brand new Halo sequel. The rumor came from Official Xbox Magazine and suggested that this title would be for Microsoft's Xbox 360 successor console.
We decided to get in touch with Gearbox for a comment on all this chittle chattle. The studio confirmed that this rumor is totally a rumor:
We’ve been hearing from a lot of people regarding that rumor, as you can probably guess! We haven’t made any official announcements regarding any work with the Halo franchise – if we haven’t put out a press release announcing a title, it is just a rumor.
Rumor is a rumor -- CONFIRMED!
It's the expected response, and brings us no closer to the truth. I don't imagine that, if the aforementioned press release exists, we don't be seeing it for a long while yet. Still, rumors and gossip are so much fun.

It's a trilogy. Leave it at that. If you're going to make a game, do a spin off if you have to. Just leave the original trilogy alone.
Yeah, also why is everyone's uniform squeaky clean?
I doubt that the people who put that scene together have actually ever been in the service.
