Gearbox drops details on Borderlands Game of The Year photo

Thanks to loose-lipped retailers, we already knew that a Borderlands Game of the Year edition was headed our way. Today, 2K Games and Gearbox have confirmed its existence, dropping the full details on the retail package, which will hit stores on October 12.

As expected, the box will come with the core game as well as a handful of post-release add-ons. And by "a handful" I mean all of them. The disc will come with download tokens for "The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned," "Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot," "The Secret Armory of General Knoxx," as well as the upcoming "Claptrap's New Robot Revolution." On top of that, expect the package to come with a "complete and comprehensive map of the Borderlands territories." You know, so you can plan your road trips.

It'll run you $59.99 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and  $49.99 for Windows PC. Sounds like a great deal for folks who haven't had a chance to experience Gearbox's awesome shooter.

Nice. I missed out on the DLC on it when playing it on the PS3. I just might buy the GOTY edition and sell the vanilla Borderlands.

So worth it. Borderlands is crazy addictive fun. I'd buy it all over again, except I don't have to.

You bet I'll be getting the new DLC though. <3

wasnt the biggest fan on this game when I played it since it is basically a grindathon.

But once this package goes into the 30 euros range I may be tempted.

Awesome, I never played it, but have desperately wanted to. This will give me the chance to do so with all of it's DLC glory included (kind of) in the package. I kinda wish they put the DLC on a second disc because there are people who don't have internet connections on their consoles, but play video games (crazy I know); I'm not one of them (obviously), but it would be nice to see a bone thrown their way.

Great deal if they fix the balancing issues introduced in Knoxx... if not, well that shit kind of kills the fucking game. A real shame since it's about as much fun as you can legally have with a video game.

Yeah, fantastic deal for anybody who hasn't already purchased the game. For me, I'll just be downloading the latest DLC once it releases...

So... someone sum it up for me. "What is Borderlands, and what's so fun about it?"

A nice, one-sentence pitch will do. I missed out on Borderlands while waiting for Dragon Age, I think.

Download tokens:/

Why hasn't anyone done what bethesda did with fallout.

Usually when you buy a game of the year you don't hav xbl or don't want to have to download from the matketplace

Don't have any of the dlc and also don't have any hd space for the dlc. A liberty stories type comp disc would have been super cool.

Sweet, thanks Rover. May have to check it out. Lots of games coming out soon though...

May be a Christmas buy.

I traded it in last year towards Dragon Age purely because I knew this would happen. I'm glad I waited to get it again! Can't wait!

Kinda lame from my POV. Like Jawmuncher said a lot of the people who wait for GOTY versions can't/don't want to download the extra content. Oh well, for everyone else it's cool.

Excellent. I'm sure the PS3 version will come with everything on the disc, so I'm sold.

With this and Dragon Age coming out with GOTY versions, I'll still be playing last year's games into 2011.

I understand the complaints about only providing download tokens...but selfishly this is still just what I've been waiting for to pick the game up. I got burned on Fallout 3 DLC by buying close to launch (still haven't thrown down the scratch for all the expansions), so I'm kind of glad I waited this time around.

Yeah I didn't buy Gears of War 2 GOTY, or Resident Evil Gold for the 360. Wanna know why? Because FUCK DOWNLOAD TOKENS. Fuck'em. I'm serious. Put the DLC and the extras on a disc or fuck you, because I'm not gonna buy it.

Wait, full price? Aren't these things usually discounted to $30?

I understand that's a lot of DLC, but damn. Do they really think there are that many people are willing to pay $60 for it that still don't own it...?

@Electrium,

Actually, this is pretty much following in the footsteps of Fallout and Little Big Planet, both games with full priced GotY editions and yes, both of them were well worth it.

I mean, you're going to be getting the full game plus $40 of DLC. Also, LBP:GotYE dropped in price pretty quickly, so it shouldn't be long before this one drops by $20 or so.

Sorry Matthew, but PS3 is still getting hard copies instead of download codes, and I'm just not interested in buying download tokens and speindign MY time getting DLC that SHOULD have been included on disc, no matter how much you stupidly and ineffectively try to shame me into it.

That stuff won't likely even be available for re-download in five years. That means it's virtually useless to a retrogamer in the future who would be wanting to collect this stuff now to play on the 350 LATER ON.

If this is "the future" then the future sucks and it isn't worth buying. So fuck the idiots who think this lazy ass shit is the future and fuck the stupid little cunts like you that mindlessly cheer them on.

The PS3 should have all the DLC on it. Enough space on it on Blu-Ray. Digital Downloads may be a good thing, but sometimes a physical copy reassures us, the gamer. Its a good thing the Blu-Ray format used for the PS3 provides more than enough space than DVD.

What hpv said.

I love borderlands and I would say it was my goty last year but gearbox fucked up badly with the last dlc. Unles they add a new level cap and a new play through I wouldn't suggest anybody buy the game.

Once conpleted there is only one area in one dlc that's has replay value. Everywhere else on the 2 other dlcs and the entire main game is underlevelled, there's no useful loot or worthy opponents left to fight and the game becomes pointless.

It hurts to say that because I do LOVE this game but I wouldn't spend the cash until gearbox announce a fix for it.

If they added so much as one more DLC I'd consider buying this. But I'm not going to spend $50 to get $40 worth of DLC, especially when I already BOUGHT the first one.
