After Gearbox purchased the Homeworld IP from THQ earlier this year, many fans of the classic space RTS suddenly had their ears perk up in excitement. At their panel in PAX Australia today, the studio announced that they are working on HD remakes of both games in addition to bringing the originals to digital distribution platforms, according to Polygon.
Gearbox's chief creative officer, Brian Martel, mentioned that he spearheaded the acquisition of the IP and wants to preserve the Homeworld games. I'm very happy to hear that, since an HD version of Homeworld with some online capabilities would be right up my alley. And hey, if they screw it up, at least we'll be able to buy the originals!
