What other headline could we use? It is what it is. Developer Eidos Montreal has officially unveiled the latest in the Deus Ex series with a new trailer for what has become Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution. You can see it in all its CG glory right above. Neat, eh?
Human Revolution is due out for PS3, PC and Xbox 360. We don't know too much more beside that, but Eidos Montreal will be showing off much more at E3. While you wait for that, sit back and enjoy the first teaser trailer. It's astonishingly pretty and if the game itself looks half that good, we're in for a real visual treat.

Meet the rest of the team
I'm pretty excited for this game, but jeez! Isn't that "badass" voice a little played out by now?
I sure hope Deus Ex 3 doesn't turn out all generic 'n' such.
Jim, do you know what involvement Warren Spector has with human revolution. I'm Curious since he's also got Epic Mickey in the pipe... I think it's him.
In any case I hope he's more involved than just showing it at a game show.
Wait a minute...Warren Spector? I am 99.9% sure he is NOT involved with Dues Ex development. And, after your Heavy Rain/Deadly Premonition debacle, I am 99.9% sure you are an ass who really doesn't deserve his position at Destructoid.
If you are wrong about this, YOU SHOULD BE TERMINATED FROM YOUR POST. Enough's enough with you, Jim. Being English and chubby can only get you so far...Your photo is beginning to smell.
The CG cutscene looks nice but I don't have high hopes for the game. It's being made by a new studio and for all the major platforms - so expect various console throw-ins which will distance it from the original Deus Ex (and I'll wager my house that it'll include those ridiculous radial menus and a simplified inventory system, even in the PC version...)
I've absolutely loved the first Deus Ex, but I won't even consider buying this one without a go at the demo.
If they're following the "all endings are true" thing again, then Alex let JC/Helios rise to godhood and merge with all humanity. Humanity didn't like it, resisted and the Templars and the Omars lead a resistance to kill Denton/Helios, but simply purged JC Denton of Helios instead.
Now Denton is hunted by most of humanity for fear that he might merge with Helios again. But I assume there will be some faction that sees him as a god and wants him merged with Helios again.
That is JC's voice in the trailer and the guy - even if rocking the Spock goatee look - did sport Denton's shades, too.
@The Silent Protagonist - it's a prequel. Hence why he's physically, instead of nano augmented. No doubt it will end just as the 'Denton' project is being thought up.
@Silent
I think it's some sort of prequel, because in the games robotic cybernetic enhancements were old school - they were already up to nanotech for all that stuff. How many times do you think he pulled his own todger off with those arms?
To White Zombie:
I don't know about other's postings, but Sterling is wrong, period. Why defend this guy? I mean, who doesn't know by now that Warren Spector is with Disney? Pretty much everyone except this bloke WHO IS PAYED TO KNOW. Absolutely rediculous. For this type of reporting, you could read Play. Jim Sterling + DAve Halverson= tool.
If its a prequel, none of the trailer make sense. Remember the Deadalus and Icarus projects created Helios. That there twelve men in the dream (Majestic 12) over that table creating a man who ascends into something that looks just like Helios.
Then there's the Icarus reference, the wings are burned away and the man falls.
And then there's Denton's voice in the trailer. JC was cloned from Paul, JC was the first clone. Alex and the others came after. So why would anyone else before that have JCs voice.
The part at the beginning is referencing just Icarus, the flying towards the sun (i.e. Helios) I would imagine being a reference to the events of the first game. That is to say Icarus become Helios, and being absorbed/burned/assimilated in the process.
The similarities between the new protagonist and the Dentons will likely be explained, but in all likelihood this man's genetic code in some way leads to the creation of Paul. Perhaps Paul is his clone? ala Big Boss/Snake.
As for the 12 men. Majestic 12 was created after the fall of the Illuminati, which happens BEFORE the events of the first game; as it was they who created Paul and JC.
If anything this trailer reinforces the fact that this is a prequel.

I think Invisible War was a solid game and it gets way too much hate, from here and elsewhere. I played IW and grew to like it quite a lot before even playing the original, perhaps you narrow-minded fellows had your expectations set a little too high.
I'm looking forward to seeing how this story connects with that of the first game. I think it's possible that Gunther Hermann and/or Anna Navarre could appear, what with them being cyborgs from DX3's time.
Let me clarify. Warren Spector and the former developers from Ionstorm are in NO way associated with Deus Ex Human Revolution. No kibitizing, no assisting, competing companbies guys. Look up who works for what and get your facts straight. This is all publicly available knowledge.
Deus Ex 3 is being made by Eidos Montreal owned by Square Enix Eidos Taito (SEET?). Warren Spector now works at Junction Point (having founded it), a studio wholly owned by Disney Interactive (Disney). None of the former developers from Ionstorm Austin (Deus Ex) or Looking Glass Studios in Boston (Thief) are working on those two franchises, which are being built in Montreal by folks who largely worked previously at Ubisoft Montreal. It is neither bad nor good, it just is.
Eidos owns both the Deus Ex and Thief properties that were once made by indepdent developers and has farmed out new development to a new Eidos (SEET) studio to revitalize those franchises (or fail to do so). End of story.
Guess it's about time I sat down and finally played Deus Ex. I tried the sequel to the first game about a year ago and couldn't get through the first 10 minutes of the game without wanted to tear my own hair out.
Maybe I should have started with the game that didn't suck. Just a thought.
The trailer is awesome, but I'm not sold on the idea that it'll automatically be better than Invisible War. IW was a watered down Deus Ex, but it had all the core elements.
From what I've read, they almost scrapped stealth altogether and turned it into a cover based shooter.

This better be a real sequel to Deus Ex.
Is Spector in charge of this? If so, I'll put aside any reservations I have about this game. He's definitely earned the benefit of the doubt.
I really hope this game lives up to the pure win of the original. Like I said, it already has IW beat.
In any case I hope he's more involved than just showing it at a game show.
So, wait a sec - Warren Spector IS involved? I had heard he wasn't attached. This might just get me interested.

I can't wait for this game. Invisible War was terrible in comparison to the first one, which is my favourite game of all time.

And Invisible War ruled.

Doesn't sound quite like JC's voice to me. I'd totally be up for reprising a role as JC though-one of the coolest protagonists ever.
Hopefully the game will live up to the bar set by the original.

hope it doesn't turn to garbage since im assuming its multi platform, though of course good multi platform games have been produced recently...

Deus Ex was a franchise that for many years I never expected to return at all
