Can't wait. It's been too long since the last proper SimCity.
I wish the screenshots hadn't been so hard to get to, though.
They made it pretty clear this was the first real SimCity since SimCity 4, that they were catering to the SC1-4 fanbase.
Um, didn't Societies already try this and fail miserably for it?
FUCK YES
"This is the first SimCity in which your cities will exist alongside your friends"
FUCK YOU, so it is basically another Anno 2070 bullshit when i have to be logged to ONLINE service(this time it will be Origin) to be able to play my game OFFLINE.
does anyone know if there's online store selling Sim City 4? it seems i WON'T be buying 5th game.
"FUCK YOU" is a little harsh when you are completely jumping to conclusions.
It can make you look like an asshole. I understand you are upset with Anno 2070. This is not Anno 2070.
if you read previews on other sites, you would understand what i'm talking about. it's presented as always-online type of game.
from joystiq:
"Resources also overlap between players, it seems, as your cities will co-exist online with those of your friends. If you construct a horrible, downtrodden and pollutive metropolis, your friends will see the impact on their own simulated streets."
i'm a huge fan of Sim City, but there's no way in hell i will buy 5th game if it's like this. i didn't buy Anno 2070(i picked up Anno 1404 instead). i have yet to buy a single title on PC that have this sort of "feature". i often play older games i didn't play for awhile and by that i mean titles that were released 10+years ago. so the fact that my SINGLEPLAYER game i bought for 40-50$ won't be playable AT ALL in, 4-6 years or so, simply because the publisher will close ONLINE servers or will go bankrupt is ridiculous. if i buy your game legally should i be rewarded for it - i have friends who pirated Anno 2070 and they don't have problems playing it offline.

Calm down, we have no proper details as of yet, we know there will be a online aspect, but not how large it will be yet. Let's wait and see first.
@Enzi
The trailer said PC/MAC but also "Platforms to be confirmed at a later date".
@Kanten
That game was not by Maxis and was meant to be a different style all-together, this is meant to be first real SimCity in 10 years. Societies was still a fun game though, albeit very different.
I know that, but the whole "make it as accessible and simplistic as possible" approach is one of the things that caused it to crash and and burn. People played Simcity for the depth, not to just plop arbitrary objects down and let the game do most of the work.
Oh well, if this game is going to be another forced Origin scenario, I won't be playing anyway.
and if i can create projects and slums near my friends cities to bring down the property values that would be awesome! i hope it has a feature to place blight on your properties
there is room for so, so much more depth in sim city, and provided you didn't get ahead of yourself and try to build new york city in a year the learning curve was very appropriate. in this respect the SC formula doesn't need changing much so i hope they don't fix what isn't broken!
oh and of course if this is an origin game, i'll be playing the pirate version. unfortunately i may not get to actually paying for my useless origin version till there's a sale on.
If you want roads in your city that's $5 for the DLC road pack, another $10 if you want highways. Power plants will run $15 each and there are 6 variations ranging from coal to fusion power. Schools, police stations, fire stations, and utility poles will be available in the "Stuff You Need to Make a City" DLC pack for $24.95.
Will it use EA's beloved and shortsighted Origin?
What additional DRM and bad practices does the game carry? Always on, always a mile away from my pocket! Limited activations? Online pass? Day one DLC :D?
Will they actually honor refunds for a change or at least respond to requests for such (still waiting on a response on a bad disc of NHL 12 purchased last winter, last game I ever intend on buying from them. Probably going to have to exchange it at GameStop, because unlike EA they actually stand behind their products!)?
Unless they break away from their bad practices, EA and its studios don't get another dime from me. These are some of the questions that will matter to me as a consumer come release time. Until then I'm quite happy with my copies of older SimCity games, you know the ones that were finished products out of the box that you could simply install and play.
