Although there are major game companies showing off their newest titles at this year's Game Developers Conference, it's also a great way to see hardware other than our generic consoles pushing out some new interactive ideas.
Circle Twelve has been working hard on their newest project, DiamondTouch. Focusing more on collaborative efforts in the business environment, this technology has also had its fair share of games, giving it the unique ability to entertain children and drunkards alike.
Don't take my word for it; check out the video interview with Adam Bouge, president of Circle Twelve Inc., after the jump.
Yaaawwwwnnnnn! I think that as cool as that technology may sound, which in all honesty is not very cool at all. I think we can all agree that we are probably not going to see this is our local pub any time soon. Most bars have a mega touch and thats as close to new video games in bars as any of us are going to see.
Ehhh, the colors idea for different users seems like a good idea, but all the only game they had to demo (at GDC of all places) was a bubble popping game? Maybe their OS examples were more exciting...
It was surprisingly responsive. Unlike some of the other touch surfaces I've played with they seemed to put responsiveness above all. If only a phone company could take that up -_-
So far as the dude--he was cool people once you sit around and talk with him, much like most of the dudes here, but he's just used to working in a business environment.
The potential for innovative and engaging singles is there. The multi-user, multi-input abilities of the DiamondTouch are tailor made for social and active game playing environments, and the surface is impervious to debris and liquid.
