GDC 10: Enjoy some EA Sports MMA screens photo

EA was showing off several sports games at the EA Sports Season Opener event in San Francisco last night. Since Samit Sarkar lives over on the East Coast, Nick Chester decided by some racist logic that I would have to do some sports coverage.

So yeah, EA Sports MMA! That's this game right here. It's full of men beating the sh*t out of each other. Sometimes they bleed, sometimes they get really sweaty. Yup.

EA Sports MMA will be out sometime this year for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Who here is looking forward to the game?

Pretty nice graphics for a Wii game.

What's the deal? Why does this look so weak?

Eh? the grpahics look good for me, get a better monitor!!!!

Although EA suck at making anything other than style based games with no substance, I'd rather play as Jeff Monson, Fedor, Aoki et al than just the UFC and it's autonomy.

I'm all about competition (in this case between games) so yeah, I'm looking forward this game

Graphics look fine to me... are people expecting 360 and PS3 to put out better graphics than they can handle now? Game consoles don't work like that, guys.

Graphics look alright, but I don't see ANYTHING that will make people buy this game.

In screens for the UFC game, even casual fans can pick out fighters they know and see how detailed the models are, but on this one, (pretty much aside from Emelianenko) I see random people that may or may not be modeled after anyone.

In other words, why the hell would I buy this over something I already know is going to be good?

How come every article relating to MMA games are so lame? It usually involves some joke about homosexuality and the article never talks about the game itself. I mean these are the first pictures of fighters Cung Le, Scott Smith, and Nick Diaz. It is also an introduction of new venues, some of which are rings instead of cages. Matches in the ring are very different from fighting in a cage. I am wondering why you guys even bother reporting this stuff when it is obvious that none of the staff has any interest in this genre.

I hope it's good, because UFC undisputed is a fucking abomination. And with Yuke's developing it, it'll always stay the same.

@OhLikeSam - I think because the majority of "real gamers" don't have any other interests but vidyagamez :P

Graphics look fine to me. It's not really a game concerning immersion or, the dreaded word, cinematic quality. All I care about is if it controls well and the fighting is fluid instead of undisputed's rigid "smackdown reskinned" controls.
