GDC 09: R2 patch and downloadable content dated photo

We’re having a hard time following this because the primary source material inexplicably disappeared, but apparently Insomniac gave GameSpot the lowdown on some hot downloadable content for Resistance 2 recently at GDC. According to Joystiq, the content, coming March 26, will take the form of a patch and a purchasable map pack and character skins.

The patch, version 1.50 if you’re counting, will add a new, harder cooperative difficulty and the multiplayer mode 'Meltdown.' It will also add the ability for a second player to use their PSN ID and partake in R2’s online multiplayer.

The patch details are juicy, but I really wish I could watch GameSpot's coverage to hammer out the details on the extra skins. The only reason I dropped the game is because I thought my character looked like a retard.

I'm an R2 fan. Maybe if I need a break from KZ2 for a bit I'll check this out.

Awesome, another reason for me to start playing R2 again! I can't wait. Anyone played Resistance: Retribution for PSP yet? I played it a little and it seems very good.

nice, resistance series is brilliant, and from a great dev too, also I was looking for that chance to go back and finish off those online trophies.
i agree on the break needed from kz2 aswel, I'm afraid I'll burn myself out on it, and its just too badass to do that.

People still play Resistance 2? Looks like Killzone 2 hasn't curbstomped them to death yet.

The absolute best part about this patch is the fact that you can have two people use their PSN IDs at once.

Seriously, why is this not standard yet?

I might just have to start playing this game again, R2 is such a great game but I'm consumed by Killzone 2 and RE5.

I think the best part is that the split screen isn't completely worthless now!

Woot! Split screen with different PSN IDs! Now I'll be able to play on my friend's R2 copy with him, each using our characters... rox!

A harder co-op difficulty sounds great. There were always spots that 8 player groups could get hung up by the sheer number of enemies, but hopefully this will force more teamwork from pickup groups. At least there's a chance that 6/8 people won't be playing spec ops and only throwing ammo when they need it.
