GDC 09: In the ring with the Punch-Out!! producer photo

Destructoid's own Ben PerLee got the chance to sit down with Ken Yeeloy, producer with Next Level Games, to talk about their newest remake targeted at the Wii: Punch-Out!!.

Discussing everything from what's changed in the series to whether or not they'll be including a multiplayer feature, Ken gave us a big-picture rundown of the game and what Nintendo was trying to accomplish with this release. Did he just knock the croissants out of him? Also head to head multiplayer? How does that work? I mean there's only one screen and you can only see from one person't point of view.

It works by using an ancient, almost forgotten technique of splitting the screen. It used to be fairly known among the populace, but after online inquisition, it became rarer and rarer. The team spent much time training with the Eons Elders in the mountains, perfecting the screen splitting technique and now they're able to do it in almost any situation.

You fool, that's just an old wives tale. There is no such thing as split screen technology. Its a myth, something people talk about to scare the younger generation into interacting with each other face to face.
