While I think many of us had expected Harmonix to follow up their Guitar Hero success with a full band game, most of us also thought the name "Band Hero" might have been the perfect fit. Apparently it wasn't.
"We didn't want to make Band Hero," said Harmonix's Dan Teasdale today during his GDC session, "we want to make game with a completely different feel. One that promoted band play over the solo experience."
So what could it have been called? According to a slide in his presentation any number of things, none of which comes close to being as marketable as what the team ultimately decided on -- Rock Band.

Actually, Metal Lords sounds like a fun game. Maybe one where you play songs some of the time but the rest of the time are fighting and killing things.
Not enough metal in the game to merit such a metal name though
