At GDC, we often get the chance to attend private meetings with developers to talk about their upcoming releases. This gives us a chance to hear about all the game related information on a professional level, before we throw it out into a sea of Internet Matlockery. Rather than just go and take notes like normal reporters, Ron and I used this opportunity to show you exactly what it's like to attend a meeting such as this.
During this particular session, we had the opportunity to talk to Peter Molyneux about his newest creation, Fable 2. Hit the play button to see more gameplay than you'll know what to do with, as well as Peter's own in-game family.
Interesting that the second dude that is zapped in does not have a dog with him. I was under the impression that the dog was a major part of the game..
It's funny, it looks to me when he has no controller in his hands he can't help but rub his thighs. So either the questions were starting to make him nervous or he was fighting off the urge to "chat himself up". Perhaps Workman was turning him own, lol.
Don't get me wrong: I love Fable. But this really didn't impress me all that much. And maybe it was the fact that Petey was "chatting up his game" so hard ("what you're about to see is really amazing" - let the demo speak for itself, dude.) After Assasin's Creed, I think the definition of "seamless combat" has changed and the bar has been raised - this just looks like more Fable fighting but with guns.
I guess the point of the demo was the open world and trying to impress us with that, but it's difficult to do in a low-res 12 minute video. I hope there's a demo of this. I really want to play it and see for myself. I have no doubt the kind of freedom they're going for will be a lot of fun.
And online co-op... Seriously, why isn't this fucking standard by now?
I first thought was "OMG OLD NEWS," but good work on the camera angles and editing, etc. Also, why didn't you upload it to the YouTube account? You can put 10+ minute videos up there.
Careful. The Molyneux is known to make wild exaggerations and spread hype at an alarming pace. If you should make contact with the Molyneux, avoid eye contact and only believe 50% of whatever it is saying.
I agree with Icarus One. I loved Fable, but this hardly looks different from the original aside from the co-op, guns, and dog. I mean, I'm sure it'll turn out great, if everything he mentions in interviews makes it into the game, but demo he played was really underwhelming. I won't count it out yet, I'd rather play it myself before I make any real assumptions, but so far, I'm unimpressed. Unimpressed, but hopeful
really don't like the idea of getting a henchman into my game, to find out he kills my family, murders my dog, burns down my home, and urinates over the ashes. I hope there's some sort of ability to either rewind damage done by an irresponsible henchman.
I really want to be excited for this game. I didn't like the first one so much though. What Molyneux said about same sex relationships though has really interested me. I think that's fucking awesome.
but i have to agree with most of the posts. i feel like they are either underplaying the game, OR its just going to be fable, with guns and a dog.
but i loved me some fable. so... i guess either way it will work out.
now heres what i think about the seems less gun to sword action. it looks like shit. that doesnt look seemless... it looks like one cool type animation to a clunky gun animation.
If it were truely seem less i could lodge my sword in one foes chest then shoot the baddie behind him, then vault of the sworded guy, pulling my removing the sword and coming down hard on the next one in line.
The first Fable allowed you to have same sex relationships as well. If you wanted you could have a two wives and husband in the first Fable, provided they were all in separate towns that is.
Anyway, I'm definitely looking forward to this game. I thought Fable was awesome for what it was. It was a short game, but it was a lot of fun and I enjoyed playing it. I didn't let a bunch of over hyping and Peter Molyneux's big mouth make me expect too much out of it. Too many people judge Fable on what Peter Molyneux said it should have been, as opposed to what it actually was.
I rate this 1 BILLION out of 5 AI's
this post is at least 1 billion times better than the last fable 2 post.
(how many 1 billion references can we fit in? hmmm)
Interesting that the second dude that is zapped in does not have a dog with him. I was under the impression that the dog was a major part of the game..
Check out "The Molynator"s gamerscore! Holy shnikeys.
I like how Peter phrases it as "chat up."
nice vid Husky, i like it. this is 1 billion times better than the gametrailers vid as it has multiple angles and actually shows Peter Molyneux
i like how the question of full support for voice chat in co-op was a nice backdoor way of asking about online co-op.
When your hero is pregnant, do you get super-hormonal powers?
I can't wait to get to a place where I can watch this video. I've heard that The Molynator is one billion times better with Workman and Husky.
It's funny, it looks to me when he has no controller in his hands he can't help but rub his thighs. So either the questions were starting to make him nervous or he was fighting off the urge to "chat himself up". Perhaps Workman was turning him own, lol.
I think this is pretty cool, but ya know, it's a bit weird.
"Fable 2, is an ASTION game, based on japanese history...So here's this giant enemy crab"
Anyone notice that this game has LIVE WEAPON CHANGES?
Old joke I know, sorry = |. Looks kind of cool, when they polish it up I bet it'll be great.

I can't wait to see more of the game, so far this same demo has been the only thing they've shown.
Since when do we have an intro? And also... why does it look like the intro to a Fox News "War on Terror" special report?
Also - hewing orcs with a third trimester belly has gotta be stupid hard.
This game is so... so... DYNAMIC!

I saw the footage on game trailers I think, but I assumed it was in a much bigger room. interesting to see, thanks :)
Haha, “The Molynator”
Glad you guys liked the multiple camera angles, we figured that would be more interesting than just gameplay
Very nice. Loved Fable but it was far too short for my liking. This has huge potential.
Can't wait!
Good work, even if it was mostly the demo they showed before.
Great questions :)
Is there anuwhere i might send my own to mr Molyneux!?
Game of the year.
I'm excited more then I should be and less then I'd like.

Looks pretty fun.
I'm really excited about this game.
@Ritual
I think that you can't undo the damage, unless you've got previous game saves or something.
I really want to be excited for this game. I didn't like the first one so much though. What Molyneux said about same sex relationships though has really interested me. I think that's fucking awesome.
Real good video, guys.
Great vid! And I'm never playing co-op with any of you bastards. :)

i can dream.

@9:30 "Cliffs you can jive dump off."
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THAT!
