Lionhead Studio's Peter Molyneux came to the Microsoft keynote at the 2008 GDC packing new Fable 2 footage and details on cooperative gamplay.

Molyneux first showed off a new money making minigame for Fable 2. What's interesting is that this minigame can be purchased and played on Xbox Live weeks before Fable 2 is released, permitting players to earn some extra in-game money beforehand. Winnings from this gambling title (a cross between roulette and craps) can be transfered into the full game when its released.

Of course, the most anticipated Fable 2 announcement is co-op gameplay. This game allows anyone else playing Fable 2 to log into your game via their gamertag and play alongside you. Be careful though: invited players can do permanent damage to your Fable 2 game world. In the above video you'll see that Molyneux plays as a female character that goes home to see his (her) husband -- too bad his co-op buddy kills the husband with a gunshot.

What do you think of this so far? Are you looking forward to this game's co-op gameplay?

Co-Op looks unreal. I really wanna know how big the game world is cause the first Fable was a tad small.

I'm going to kill everyone and everything and break all of my friend's Fable little lives! HAHAHA... "Fable little lives." You see what I did there? I love being evil in Fable.

I'm totally on the fence for Fable 2. I never played the first one.

If the "mini game" were released as a free XBLA download it might be the push I need to buy the game. I don't imagine I'll be using my points to buy it though.

If it's as good as it looks I'm exited. I just REALLY hope it has a good char creation system.

Okay, I friggin' love roulette (my favorite way to gamble in Vegas), but I can't imagine it'd be worth a purchase as an XBLA title. It's not the same when you're not playing with real money, and if it's like roulette, then the more you play, the more likely it is that you'll lose.

Still, sounds interesting, and I enjoyed Fable, despite its flaws, so I'm interested.

They still use gold as a currency but they can gamble with plastic chips?

I'm liking the stuff he's introducing, but you should not have to pay for that XBLA game. In any other case, that would be included as on-disc content, an in-game minigame. Separating it and charging more money for it just seems greedy.

Or maybe it's worth the money, I don't know.

@Necros

You don't have to pay for the game unless you want it early, otherwise it will be on the disc, paying for it is only for people who wanna get a headstart on the moneymaking ingame

sounds good to me people who dont care about the money can just wait and play it for free and people like me who are lazy and want to be somewhat well off from the start will buy it and try to gamble our way to good fortune

What I think is more exciting than co-op is at the end, where he just randomly shot the guy's husband. And if I'm not mistaken, his character in the game was laughing. Freaking awesome. For me, co-op is meh. I just like griefing people (in ways that don't permanently effect gameplay).

Heh, it's not really co-op if your "partner" is a douche bag, is it?

Don't really care all that much about the roulette game, but the concept of different games "talking" to each other is interesting. Too bad it's not really a new concept, though.

This game looks simply amazing. The two player co-op on one system should be a blast too. I just hope it doesn't have the load times of the original.
