"Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!" Yes, this pretty much sums up all that was going through my head during this interview. Dragon Age: Origins was another one of the games that I have fallen in love with recently and my excitement is palpable. Yes, I am indeed a fan-girl for Alistair. It's something about the innocent virgin knight in shining armour thing he has going on.

Our interview takes a look at the aspect of "story within a story" and the time line in which Dragon Age II plays out. We also discuss the improvements, alterations and updates to the gameplay. We also talk about the importing of previous saved data and the effects if can have on the new character and world.

Bring it on, Bioware. My social life has been in need of a good kicking.

Never mind, it's up now. Anyways I'm also looking forward to Dragon age 2, I loved the first games story aspect but not so much the combat. It looks like DA 2 is going to be upping the action factor this time which is a huge plus. I also can't wait to see what kind of outrageous set pieces Bioware can create using the "story within a story" aspect of the game.

I just hope the combat really as good as it sounds, and I bet it will rain all those extra days in Britain we have to wait to play the full thing ;(

Hollie, I must say, your excitement for what you do is refreshing. You emanate "giddy school girl," which is cool.

As far as Dragon Age II goes...we'll see. After reading the Game Informer feature, I'm nervous that they're taking the game in too action-heavy of a direction. For God of War, I'll play God of War. For Dragon Age, I want Dragon Age! I loved the hell out of the first game and its expansion; moar plz.

Daddy like... That interview actually set some of my fears about the battle system to rest. Moving away from the "wait your turn" action queue sounds like a great idea. Timing skill combos from multiple party members should be a lot smoother.

*continued faith in Bioware*

Both myself and my camera man Jake voiced our concerns about the battle system and I assure you, do not worry.

With the Dragon Age II Hollie. Was it the console build or the PC build? Also, as always great interview :)

Well that's good, because I'd be bummed if the sequel to (possibly) the best RPG I've played this generation was no longer an RPG.

Thein: It was actually both. Half way through they switched over.

Basically: if you played the first one on the PC, the second will look the same.
If you played the first one on the 360, they have played with the engine and it will look better.

Eh... I can't say I was a huge fan of the DA. The story was very interesting but the combat bored me to tears, and I finally set it aside after renting it twice. I'd personally like to see the combat be more, well, like actual combat.. not occasionally pressing a button or two while your characters automatically attack enemies. Judging from the video, it seems like they're trying to add new features to the combat system, but it still ultimately sounds the same as the first game or at least it does so far. I'll give it another shot if it looks interesting enough but I won't be looking forward to DA2.

Really impressed with all the GC coverage. It seems to be a much more relaxed event compared to E3 and the interviews seem to be a lot less PR'y
Keep up the good work Britoid

Alistair? Really? I don't know who you are anymore! I'm still going to cautiously optimistic, since I loved DA:O.

@xxxHolic
You're doing it wrong. If you're "occasionally pressing a button or two" then it's your own fault. Personally, I get really into strategy games and controlling everyone, so I'm doing a LOT more than that.

@pokota: Yeah, you're totally right. It's my own fault the game's combat wasn't very engaging for anyone that doesn't normally have a hard on for this kind of genre and you could, for the most part, get through the first half of the game with little input from the player, combat wise anyway. Please, don't insult my intelligence. I give a game several tries before I write it off my "to play list" Don't get me wrong, DA:O is a good game, but it's definitely not for everyone, and I can assure you that the combat system was the main contributing factor that put off some players to the game. So in other words, don't mistake my dislike for the combat system as inexperience or unfamiliarity with it.

Great interview. I would have grilled him about the changes to the conversation system (which seems to remove all of the morally gray territory of the original title by clearly indicating the intent of every option), but otherwise it all sounds pretty good. Also, Alistair, really? The whiny and immature fit he throws towards the end of the game cost him any goodwill he had previously engendered. I would gladly trade him to have a Hollie Bennett in my party.

A true friend would have stuck by him and listened to him. Alistair and I ride together and we die together.

Fair enough. My loss, I suppose. I just didn't think that someone who was unable to see the sense in compassion was fit to be a king. When I had to choose between my principles or my party member, I chose my principles. That being said, I read later that if I had been less kind to him on his personal quest, it would have toughened him up and he would have acted slightly more rationally towards the end. Doesn't really make sense to me, but there you go.

Alistair pissed me off. I wanted to play ultra-good, so I let Logain live for a chance to redeem himself. Alistair bitched off. When I learned he had become a raging drunk in the ending I got, I was happy. I had hoped it'd be reflected in the sequels. That was half the reason I never got Awakening.

Anyway, I don't like how Bioware are dumbing down the morality in DAII, going back to their old ways. I'll wait for a review before I buy methinks.

I don't care if you liked the game or not, that's irrelevant. However, if you are only occasionally pressing a button or two, then that is completely on you. You can play the game like that if you want, it's your choice, but don't complain about doing so if that's the decision you make. You can micro-manage so finely that you have more than enough buttons to press, that's the nature of this type of strategy game, so acting as if there is nothing to do is ridiculous.
