To the surprise of nearly none, Lionhead revealed Fable III today at gamescom. Designer Peter Molyneux, as he usually does, made many bold statements about the game.
But talk, as they say, is cheap. So it's a good thing they already have a trailer prepared for Fable III, which can you see after the jump. It's an incredibly, short piece of pre-rendered beauty, one which tells us little about the actual game itself. But it sure is pretty.
Lionhead says Fable III is coming out in 2010. Which means, of course, we'll probably see it in early 2011. Hit the jump for the trailer, and check the gallery for the first pieces of artwork from Fable III.
Wow I remember Fable 2's trailer and how excited I got about knowing that my actions would change entire towns and thinking about how many times I would be able to play to see all the different outcomes...
I am going to buy this, but I am going to keep my expectations low and not read ANYTHING about it. That way I can just enjoy it for what it is without Peter's hype or anyone's bashing.
Hopefully they realized the game needs actual bosses, and not just regular enemies who are slightly stronger and who's outfit varies only slightly. Oh, and an end boss would be nice too, Fable II I'm definitely looking at you.
Seriously, aside from the customization the first Fable was superior is nearly every category. Better story, better enemies for the most part, BOSSES, well designed bosses, better gameplay, etc. The world was also more linear in the first Fable, but it was also better designed.
I hope they mean that once you become a champion or whatever you can actually be king then and do some changing through military might and stuff, but then it would become almost RTS and I doubt that it will change that much, so it is probably Fable II.5, the quest for more quests.
I liked Fable a lot. Fable II was way too similar to the original, but still fun. The biggest problem with the series is that they keep promising us stuff that doesn't come true. So if I ignore anything and everything Molyneux says I might enjoy the game... or maybe I'll just not buy it.
Why would he make a part 3? Wasn't part 1 the greatest game ever, and part 2 was even better than that? Molyneux should quit while he's ahead. I mean, how often do you make the 2 best games in history? /s
I've only played Fable II but I really enjoyed it. It's one of those games that gives you enough freedom to create your own story and character. If you fly through the game's main quest, min/maxing your character I can see where you would dislike it.
Games like that always keep me coming back time and time again.
I don't know whether I should listen to Molyneux's enthusiasm that will probably hype me up for the game or just look at previews or completely stop myself from reading anything about it. Although I'm sure it will still be a quality game, like Lionhead's games always are.
The previous paragraph only accounts for if this comes to PC. I'm still waiting on Fable II, y'know.
It's hilarious watching people talk shit about game that they know NOTHING about. Gotta love the internet :)
I do think that he shouldn't have used all those quotes and made this out to be some revolution in game design, which it probably won't be, but you know Peter Molyneux.
I love both Fable games, but can't help but feel they were both overhyped to the point of damaging my impressions of them. No doubt that this will be the same.
Say what you will about Fable gameplay-wise, but I've always thought the soundtracks (especially the original Bowerstone theme which is pretty much always stuck in my head no matter where I am in-game) were absolutely stellar. I'm probably a bigger fan of the music than I am of the games, and the games are a pretty good time.
I'm sorry, but how is Little King's Story in any way relevant to Fable? They're not even the same genre.
You've gotta be either completely fucking retarded or a 14-year-old upset over the fact that mom and dad can only afford a Wii console to even make that kind of connection.
Although I do think Little King's Story is more fun than Fable II, I can also think of a million other (hyperbole, my 'tard friends) completely-different-genre titles that I'd like to play over Fable II. Of course, since they aren't relevant at all (i.e. I'm not a fucking retard) I'm not making that kind of comparison.

Then I bought the piece of sh1t Peter sold me. :(
This game will undoubtedly suck a55 too.
~That is all~
Fresh concept.
With real open world gameplay!
I essentially want Oblivion with Fable's charm and humour. Is that so much to ask?
little kings story > this POS
of course cant complain about complexity when it comes to the 360 crowd
Could there be a more obnoxious/less appropriate ad before this?
Also, eh.

Way to use a bunch of revolutionary quotes before unveiling the third title in a series Molyneux :P
