GC 09: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Wii looks good photo

Name recognition alone will make Call of Duty: Modern Warfare a sales success, but it’s nice that the visual quality is up to snuff. Publisher Activision released a pile of fresh images plucked from the Wii-port this morning, each one iconic featuring scenes that should be familiar to the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare faithful.

Announced earlier this month, CoD: MW is a Treyarch Corporation port of the popular shooter. We don’t know much about its mechanics, but we’re guessing that they won’t operate much more differently than the studios’ other ports of Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War.

Enjoy your first look at the game in the gallery below. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare ships alongside Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on November 10th.

Some of the textures look a bit blurred, I doubt these are some of the final screens... Well i hope not for the Wii's sake

Ugh its so jarring to look at. I try to judge wii games visually from a ps2 standard but... I just don't remember any "AAA" class game looking so shitty.

look at the pic with the solider on his knee.... and then look at these from CoD Big Red One (ps2):

So, basically they took the LoDs for when players are a mile away on the Xbox version, and forced all the characters to use them all the time.

Or for short, looks like shit and a jaggy paradise.

Solid multiplayer is what has held this game up all this time until today. You really believe that the Wii is going to have fun multiplayer? Several things are probably going to happen:

people are going to suck so hard with the wii mote that they'll just give up

people are going to mod the game, causing several people to stop playing

people are going to leave because well, everyone else is leaving and there isn't anyone left.

Lets face it, the wii mote has NEVER been good for fps's. It's ironically just not designed for it, despite the whole "point and click" idea. Joysticks are fine, computer mouses are excellent. But the wii mote is AWFUL. I hope this tech dies soon.

Oh, and the graphics have never really mattered that much. But in this case... they sort of do. This game looks like !@#$ on the wii.

This looks like shit on the Wii. When you take a photo-realistic war game and plop it out onto last-gen graphics technology then, yeah, it's going to look like ass.

Are these screen shots for the N64? It sure does look like it. They are UGLY as hell. Just look at the character models! haha, wow, they blow.

Look at The Conduit's character models. Yah that will show you how lazy Treyarch is and that this is just a money scam.

I had hope for this game, but, here I go again, RED STEEL OWNS this game with graphics, pathetic Treyarch, just Pathetic.

Another post by me, flame me if you please.

This looks like a game that was made for the gamecube with a N64 engine. This is worst than I expect. C'mon,

Can we EVER get a game that looks as good as RE4 Wii edition!? That was a gamecube game and owns basically all other Wii games.

Treyarch, when did you realize this would be a good money maker? Did you buy the engine at a yard sale back in the 80's?

... ohhh, Treyarch's making this one. that explains a lot.

and yeah, I have incredibly low standards for graphics and even I think this is unimpressive.

They have probably been working on this for months, but it looks like only a few hours. They only have a couple more months left. It won't get better. Jagged crap everywhere.

They really have gone low, this is so lame. they expect us to not give a **** about graphics. Wii owners care less than other console gamers, but we are not idiots who buy crap like this.

Treyarch, as of now, you are getting a Big middle finger from me and my friends, I will tell people not to buy this game, and I won't buy it either. Good job getting me boycotting! :D

Converting CoD4 to Wii is like converting Brain Training to the XBox 360. Yeah, you could manage it and yeah, it'll shift a respectable number of copies, but you've wasted your time trying to force a product in a market it's not comfortable with when you could've made something decent that played to the system's strengths.

Look what EA are doing: the pseudorealistic NFS: SHIFT for the 360 and PS3 and the fun and stylish NFS: Nitro for the Wii.

It doesn't matter how it looks because online play will be horrible, just like almost every other Wii game.

I'll save my money for the Conduit, which doesn't look like ass AND plays well, online or offline.

I love the wii, but STHU about "Gameplay before Graphics" Wii can do better, but you idiots don't let it because you say Gameplay before graphics all the time and buy crappy games. Good job you idiots, good job.

Nobody has said anything nice about the graphics. Calm dowwwnnn. Take your meds. All is well.

That said, these graphics are a bit insulting. These look no better than the MGS5 trailers just released for the PSP. Time to step it up, fella's at treyarch.

Was that a blantant attempt at trolling? Wii controls are the BEST console controls for FPS. The only set up that beats it is keyboard+mouse. Wii is perfect for FPS.

@bustaballs

NO. The wii is HORRIBLE for FPS games. As it is now you have to turn your character's head by sharply aiming to the right or left, which sucks (admit it). Another analog stick on the wiimote would've fixed this issue, allowing for independent turning and shooting. The only thing the wii is good for now is rail shooters, where turning isn't a factor.

Really, why do you think the wii is the only console with rail shooters?

Why do people care so much about the freakin graphics anyway? Even with its amazing graphical output, people wouldn't have given it a damn if CoD4 wasn't as fun as its SP and MP offer. If it fails, it will not be because of the graphics but due to Treyarch screwing up the damn gameplay experience.

(Though, yes, they do look quite subpar for the Wii. If the Wii has the power of a GC, the GC was still more powerful than the PS2, and Sony still pulled out a beautiful game like Shadow of the Colossus. I'd blame Treyarch instead of the Wii for those pics)

Why do we care about graphics?! I'm sorry but wii owners are NOT RETARDS! I get so pissed at companies that give us CRAP LIKE THIS. This looks like a N64 game, that is the truth, admit it. If we buy this crap, we will ALWAYS GET CRAP. All they want is money, sure every company wants money, but they don't have to make it look like a piece of S**T. And last time I check this LOOKS LIKE A PIECE OF SH*T. They will ONLY make Modern Warfare 2 for the Wii if this one sells good! They see that WAW sold good, they know we want this, so they give us this crap port. They see that we want modern warfare 2, so now they expect us to buy Modern warfare, just so we can get modern warfare 2! GOOD JOB ACTIVISION! YOU GUYS OFFICIALY SUCK!

I am boycotting Activision, that is final.

This game will have no wii speak, there is no excuse to not have it in the game. MOH H2 has 32 players online, so this game should be able to have 16, and 18 ground war.
