GC 09: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 ships March 2, 2010 photo

At Electronic Arts' gamescom press conference today, DICE revealed that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will release on March 2, 2010 in North America and March 5 in Europe for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

DICE threw down the gauntlet, saying that while they have respect for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Bad Company 2 will "define online multiplayer gaming" with the "most insane online battles you have ever experienced."

Also detailed was the game's updated destruction model, what DICE are calling "Destruction 2.0." One example given was a sniper finding a key location in a building, and then creating his or her own hole to shoot from. Cover can be chipped away by fire, and entire buildings can be reduced to rubble.

Sounds like DICE is looking to give Volition's Red Faction: Guerrilla a run for its money.

This game is going to be amazing. I really hope that it keeps, and even refines, the humor from the last game. I definitely need more funny war-time FPS games.

So I guess I still have time to get the first one on the cheap and then this one next year. Maybe that's the way to go.

Ding ding ding! In that corner, weighing in at 55 pounds, the hyped hitter, the popular pulveriser, Modern Warfare 2! In the other corner, weighing in at 40 pounds, the hilarious hook, the jarring jab, Bad Company 2! FIGHT!

The first one was great fun. I hope this is going to be good as well. Please make it as goofy as the first one. That shit was so dumb is was awesome.

Hopefully they bother to include switch sticks/left handed controls this time (this was the only reason this was a rental and not a buy... my husband plays lefty controls and otherwise we'd have bought two copies of the game). Hopefully they also have more variations in modes.

I loved the game...but at the time there were better online games. Hopefully they really will "define online gaming" this time around!!

Online was a blast on the first one. I'm sure this will just be better.

i just hope you can go prone, i find it annoying when games wont let you go prone. Also i hope they get rid of the sniper reload sequences, it is way too much effort for even an untrained sniper to load the next round in a clip

@Hati Fox, that's not how Sniper's work though if it's Bolt Action. If it's semi/fully automatic, fair enough.

I still haven't played the first one, but I think I'll try 2 out. Can't wait to be a sniper :]
