GC 09: Bad Company 2 trailer will tide us over until March photo

At EA's gamescom press conference, Modern Warfare 2 was acknowledged as being the utter mutliplayer beast that it is, but Battlefield: Bad Company 2 executive producer Karl Magnus Troedsson is sticking to his guns regardless. He thinks the game "will deliver the best online multiplayer experience ever" when it hits stores on March 2nd and 5th for North America and Europe respectively.

Even though it was completely out of character for me, I missed out on Battlefield: Bad Company. The sequel sounds like it's going to be pushing the envelope even further in terms of environmental destruction and vehicle battles across land, sea, and air. I know I won't be missing out on the Bad Company series a second time, not a chance.

Check after the break for the newest trailer, which debuted at gamescom this morning. The game is looking excellent, and hey, there's plenty of room between March and November 10 (Modern Warfare 2's launch).

The video is phenomenal, also DICE has excellent sounds in their games. Enjoying bf1943 right now.

TheDRMaster has a point. All this multiplayer footage is very pretty and all but frankly I'm more arsed about the singleplayer campaign.

I loved the first Bad Company, I even won it from Dtoid, which made it all the sweeter. The writing was awesome and really funny. The characters were some of the most likable I've ever seen in a military FPS and the game was all around fun, especially the multiplayer. I highly recommend anybody who enjoys Battlefield style games pick it up.

I am disappointed to see that this second Bad Company is moving away from comedy-action and going for a more serious tone. We have enough super serious war games right now. Bad Company was a breathe of fresh air. It was bad enough they ditched the original characters (although it makes sense if you saw the end of Bad Company) but to ditch the comedy aspects is almost unforgivable. I'll still buy it if the reviews are good though.

I am currently loving the first one. Grabbed it a few days after it came out on Game on Demand. It feels like the big brother to Battlefield 1943. I have been playing that for a few weeks as well and feel that the multiplayer gameplay styles translate perfectly from one game to the other.

The first Bad Company is pretty underrated. I picked the original up early on in the summer and I played the hell out of the multiplayer because it was so unpredictable at times. It made a real change from CoD4, which had kind of fallen into a repetitive game of 'search the hotspots'.

I also loved the singleplayer campaign's writing. Yeah, it was just a remake of Kelly's Heroes, but Preston Marlow and co. all had some really well written moments. It was actually funny, unlike most games that try to be these days.

@DaedHead: We don't know that for sure. This was showing off the multiplayer.

This will most definitely not tide me over until March. I like the premise and I'm stoked to get this though!

@mcbennet "red faction does it better"

It really doesn't. I still play this game for the thrill of being chased through a house by tank shells exploding walls as I run.

Red Faction has you destroying walls with a hammer... It just loses a little bit of excitement in the process.
