According to this post on Gaygamer Sony's answer to Matthew McConaughey's answer to Sega's Panzer Dragoon just popped up on store shelves. To quote our fabulous tour guide:
Fruit and I went on an evening excursion to peruse out surrounding queendom this eve, and to our suprise at Ye Ole Gamestoppe there layest a copy of Lair for PS3. It literally swooped under our radar. The clerk confirmed that it should have come out on Friday, but they were selling it a day early.
Did anyone else manage to pick the title up? Care to weigh in on how awesome/terrible it is?
I suppose it's fate that I managed to watch Reign of Fire and play Lair for the first time at this weekend's big soirée. Unfortunately, the similiarities between the two titles don't end with dragons or the timing of my first experiences with either -- as much as I wanted to love the premise of both, one could have benefited from more Matthew McConaughey and the other was a horrible movie.

nothing on the 360 looks this good, the sad thing is, a lot of it is pre rendered movies, and they look amazing, but so does the game engine, but you can tell when the pre rendered stuff kicks in.
Now for the game play, flying is nice actually. but so far, and i am on level 3, the game itself is kinda, hmmm, un impressive in that, it feels so on the rails. not free. the cinematic presentation is top notch and awsome, but the game is simple, i feel like i am playing the wii. and this is both a good thing, and a bad thing. it feels gimmicky, and i know that this is a rent, not a keep, so its not worth the 60 bucks so far. the game play is just to on the rails so far, and i can see why it got bad reviews. i give it a 6 out of 10, because the presentation and 1080p is amazing, and nothing next gen looks this good yet, nothing else even comes close so far..
i traded resistance which i beat and graw 2 to get this. graw 2 i beat, and the multi player is lame cause you cant take cover, warhawk made me hate all other multiplayer stuff on the ps3, warhawk does it all perfectly, graw2 is lame multiplayer online, so was rainbow 6. warhawk nails it. so i felt no need to keep graw 2 after beating it. these are all rentals, i and i feel like a fool for buying lair, graw 2, rainbow 6, and resistance. Those are all rentals, once you beat them, you dont care anymore. graw 2 was great single palyer, i gve it a 7 out of 10 too.
so far, war hawk is the only game i am truly in love with, i think graw 2, resistance, rainbow 6 are all fun, but. not much replay.. good. but worth renting not owning.
warhawk is the only one worth buying as far as i am concerned. oh and the online games like calling all cars, superstar dust.
games worth buying on ps3? warhawk, ninja gaiden, so 2. not so good yet. i know heavenly sword is a rental, its only 6hrs of gameplay.
good thing call of duty 4 is on its way, assassin's creed, metal gear, final fantasy, haze, killzone. i think most of those are buys, along with gta... so i'm still happy.
and so far, i am enjoying the ps3 more than the wii. much better games.. more immersive and fun. i like warhawk online so much its not even funny. makes me not even care about lair.. maybe lair gets better after level 3. i sure hope so.. its way to easy right now..

Wow, even I feel like a douchebag for posting this.
No disrespect to gay gamers, as I'm straight and not homophobic, but I'm yet to see what being gender specific has to do with gaming, really. Games are for fun and if you can play and have that, doesn't matter if your from male or female, black, white or spotty with stripes. Maybe its a need to identify or stand out, I dunno. Enlighten me, someone.
Either way, Lair is still crap. Just don't mess up Professor Layton.
its fun. it's epic. i like the story ok. it reminds me of god of war during some boss battles. It's ok, and growing a tad on me... i still think this is a rent, not a buy. but man the graphics are amazing.. really... i have gotten used to the controls a little bit more, and i think its better when you learn it. it has a bit of a learning curve... its not that bad. it's not crap. but the game play could of been better. but they did make it seem huge and epic. so in that right its on its own, nothing compares to it there. and still, better graphics than any 360 game to date...

I was hoping this would be better. Besides the controls and the lock-on, there doesn't seem to be much wrong with it. Exactly what did Factor 5 fix?
What would make me buy a 360? if they fixed the hardware so 40% of them would stop breaking(recall), stop charging for the net, added a web browser, pull all the adds out, throw in a built in HD dvd player, hell some wifi too, and no less than 60gb of hd space, make it truly backwards compat, oh yeah, hdmi. and true 1080p. oh wait, then it would be a ps3.. AHAHHAH i already have that...
AND NO. i don't work at sony. wish i did. hell i applied to do audio for them.. but i'm not good enough :( oh well in some other life right :)

Honestly, is anyone surprised it's getting crap reviews? Did any of you play the Rogue Squadrons?
I didn't, but, the nintendo and star wars fanboys said they were good, and you know they never exaggerate things!
i'm not a fanboy of any system & i own both the 360 & PS3 but i am a rational human being and i can rightfully say that Lair is "NOT" up to the standards that we expect a next gen game to be....VERY DISAPPOINTING
IGN gave the game a 4.9
GameSpot gave the game a 4.5
EGM was the kindest and they only gave it a 5.0, 5.5, and a 6.0.
I think it's safe to say that this game it a failure. Also, as I said before, and as Poonster said this game doesn't compare graphically to games like Gears of War or BioShock on the XBox 360. Can we just forget the whole fanboy thing and just admit that it's a poor game?
