I dont know who this "Gary" is, but as a modder he belongs behind bars. Taking any kind of software an honest developer has created and using it to make money for yourself is vile. People like this "Gary" are taking money out of the pockets of hard working developers, and should spend the rest of his life behind bars for it.
Being that I'm not a PC guy, please tell there have been jokes based on his name being similar to musician Gary Numan. If not, sadness.

To be fair there was very very very little hinting or nudging toward sarcasm there. If you read that outloud you'll see what I mean. If you were being sarcastic apologies for the dickery but surely you can see where you too were at fault.

Since you commenters don't seem to know much about this story, I shall give you a very brief synopsis: Garry stole a bunch of code from a dev team(JB Mod, who's community _I_ happened to be a part of) and rushed to get the unfinished, stolen code out before the dev team could even say 'this is stolen, please cease and desist' and now, several years later. Garry Newman is rich. Well, after Steam takes its cut--who am I kidding, all the cash he has for stealing code, yeah, I'd say he was 'richer' for it.

I'm mostly disgusted because the JB Mod team were content with releasing free updates, where as Garry did it for profit(Gmod is $10 on steam). Hell, whenever I used to pirate a movie I don't feel bad because I didn't make any money off of it but I would never pirate, burn and SELL movies because that's a whole new level of scum.

Sure the last part of this sentence is a little overly dramatic but the first part couldn't be anymore true.
GARRY stole the HARD WORK of other developers to turn a PROFIT.
Are Dtoiders seriously justifying piracy of the worst degree? Forget the rest of @OneRed's comments and focus only on the first. Facts are facts, he stole code, profited from it, and the people who know nothing about how the insides of 'mods and/or games' work don't know/care enough to do anything.

I didn't know there was a TMZ or CNN for videogames, this all played out on ONLINE communities, forums, message boards, etc. this was before blogs were prevalent, FYI)

He must not have been a part of the JB Mod community but I was, so I figured I'd go the extra mile and track down a link for proof. I also figure he was just passionate and got inflamed by the headline or something, to not think before posting(not defending him), I dunno.
