We're hours away from the release of Bethesda Softworks' highly-anticipated Fallout 3, the first "now-gen" installment of a beloved series. If by this point you haven't played the original Fallout or its sequels, we'd highly suggest you go do that ... now.
But if you don't have that kind of time (estimated about 150+ hours), GameTrailers has you covered. They've put together this excellent video retrospective feature that should get you caught up right quick (estimated about 15 minutes). It covers Fallout's pre-cursor title, Wasteland, all the way up through the ill-fated console Brotherhood of Steel titles that many fans would like to forget.
But be warned, these videos are spoiler-heavy, so watch at your own risk. We're doing our best to craft a non-spoiler-heavy review of Fallout 3, so if you're on the fence about Bethesda's first plunge into the series' universe, be sure to check out our full review later this week.
Watching this really makes me wish Fallout 3 was more like 1 and 2 in the sense that it is purely turn based with combat. I really want Fallout 3 to be good but I can't help being uneasy on playing it on anything other than a PC, yet my current PC is out of commission and if it weren't I doubt it could play it. Good retrospective!
I thought Fallout 2 was a much better game than the first one. The darker story and atmosphere really made it feel epic. As for the two spin-off games, I've played Tactics and thought it was pretty spiffy. BoS on the other hand, sucked major ass.
it's kind of sad to see such epic tales condensed to only a few minuits but GT has at least managed to get across a lot of what made these games the classics they are.
i have a feeling a lot of people who didn't play them will be wishing they hadn't watched this video after they do.
Even though it's only been a month since I last finished Fallout 1, this video really made me want to fire up a new character. But I guess I'll wait until Fallout 3 drops into my mailbox tomorrow.

What I find funny though is that the BoS game looks pretty awesome (animation and graphics wise) from the video but apparently blows in reality.

ASS
I never caught any of these games. It's nice to see such deep storyline in a video game. I had no interest in Fallout 3, but now I really really do.
I <3 GameTrailers and HAWP.
