$50 is a bit much, but they probably have pretty high development costs, so I guess we'll just wait and see.

Not me. Nope. Nada. I'm dying to pre-order, but I'm not paying $250 for a 3DS or $40+ for a 3DS game. Might be the first Nintendo game system I don't buy at launch… or even in the first year.

They're more expensive than the other 3DS games in Japan too for some reason. Anyway I sure wouldn't pay £35/£40 for a 3DS game. I hardly pay £35 for console releases anyway!
If this is true, shows how out of touch Nintendo is slowly becoming. Why would I pay $50 for a handheld port of 12 year old games instead of buying a similar looking game for $10 at absolute most on the iPhone? Especially if the first game really isn't all that portable, and you're basically stuck between 10$ for it on your 40 inch TV or $50 for it in 3D on a tiny screen. I just can't see a reasonable person choosing the handheld.
As it is, I'll wait until there's either a few brilliant games, or the inevitable 3DS Lite with 8-10 hours of battery life, thank you very much.

I dunno, one of the DS's best features I think, is the cheaper games. I for sure bought some Wii games that weren't worth $50 though. Big Brain Academy is one.

The recent tentative prices for the actual console in the UK is going for anywhere in between £250 and £300. If this is anywhere near reflexive of the actual price point, my plans to get a 3DS at launch are down the toilet.

Obviously the higher end graphics and 3D are gonna amp up the graphics. I've little doubt that this style of pricing will become common place, and next gen consoles will have a standard asking price of $400. Andif I recall, weren't gba games like $40?

Well it already surpasses the Wii in graphics and has 3D, so an extra 10 bucks isn't too bad. As long as it feels equivalent to a console experience, I don't mind. Part of the reason I never play my DS is because most of the games feel like handheld games, whereas a lot of what I've seen on the 3DS looks and feels like something that wouldn't be out of place on PS3, 360 or Wii.
I think $40 as a general base price is worth it if you don't just indiscriminately gobble up every single game that comes out... And it's funny that people are losing their minds over the prices now only because it's handheld, as if there's really any difference between handheld and other types of gaming besides a smaller screen, which is something I don't really view as a downside. I don't need a giant screen for everything.
I was so psyched for this handheld. I thought Haven't gamed substantially on a handheld since the GBA, but it looks like that would have to wait if this is true. I can barely buy new console games as it is, forget 3DS games.

50$? With the current currency conversion that publishers are using in europe it would be 50€. Not a chance in hell. With a proper conversion it would be 38,20€ which would be totally okay for me and I guess everyone else who is living here. But hey, europeans are rich as shit, they can do it with us. -.-

I knew this would happen, considering how much the games are going for in Japan already, its a sure sign they will be around $50 in the states. in Ireland DS games are €35-€40, which is about $45-$52, so this isn't really bad for me

personally, i won't pay more than current ds game prices for 3ds games. if they aren't smart enough to keep prices down, i guess i'll be buying used games.
on a related note, why do publishers always try to get a couple bucks more for their titles? don't they realize that the higher price points keep potential paying customer from buying new? more than $35 is too much for any handheld title, period.

Yeah, I'm just about done with video games after 27 years. It's been heading in the wrong direction since all that 3d shit took over in the mid-nineties, and it just keeps getting worse, so it's time for me to find something else to spend my time and money on. I think instead of a 3ds, I'm going to buy a guitar instead.
